Scoma's Fisherman's Wharf

Description

Scoma's prepares some of the best seafood dishes on Fisherman's Wharf, which is no small feat considering the competition. The traditional dining room lets the food do the talking. The menu focuses on fresh seafood that is either sauteed or broiled. Enjoy Dungeness Crab, prawns, scallops, calamari, abalone, swordfish, salmon, oysters and clams. House specialties include a Spicy Cioppino (seafood stew) and a Filet Mignon and Lobster Tail combo. The wine list is adequate, featuring domestic and imported wines.

came here for a corp event. thought the food was ok, but maybe I had too high of expectations w/ all the culinary hype around it!? It was good but don't recall anything substantially outstanding or anything. The servers were pretty nice so overall experience is positive...and yes, you'd be dining "on the bay".

Two weeks ago the family went to Scoma's for our special treat of lazy man's cioppino which turned out to be a bowl of chopped fish.AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL Both bowls had 2prawans 3scallops no crab, mussles,or clams, just a bowl full of fish.No longer a choice of regular cioppino or lazy mans. When asked where the clams, mussels, or crab we were told they didn't make it like that any more, well if that's the case GOODBYE!!!!! We are not paying $40.00 for a bowl of stewed fish...........We have told all our friends and regular customers and they agree scoma's use to have the best cioppino in san francisco. Now we are looking for a new place for our CIOPPINO...

Welcome TOURIST suckers to this old burned out restaurant...a favorite for everyone from OUT of town....great reputation ....among TOURISTS. Locals would not touch anything on the wharf except Buena Vista for Irish Coffee....

Scoma's is not to be missed if you get anywhere near San Francisco. I make excuses to get within 80 miles of the Wharf in SF just so I can go to Scoma's. The Food and Service is Great.

This restaurant was recommended by a local shop employee, when we could not get into our former favourite restuarant. Scoma's is now a must when we go to San Francisco. The food is amazing, I recommend the lump crab cakes. Reservations are a good idea. The wait staff are friendly and efficient.

We were there with some family and our two kids. After you get past Fisherman's Wharf and the Piers and grimy walkways you arrive to find the restuarant looking pretty nice. The staff was extremely nice especially with our two kids. The food was amazing. I recommend the Chiopino or the Calamari.

Scoma's Fisherman's Wharf is great!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/29/09
We wanted to take my out-of-town parents to a great italian or seafood restaurant that wasn't outrageously priced or fancy. Scoma's was perfect. Perfect steak, pasta, and the halibut was to die for!

By far the best!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/1/09
This is by far the best restaurant on the pier if not all of SF. I eat here every time I come to SF. I love the lobster, surf and turf, shrimp scampi...hmmm...don't think I have had a bad dish yet. Although, they are best known for their seafood so that is all I have ordered. The bar is great, too.

Last year we celebrated our anniversary at Michael Mina's and the bill was over $400 for two, including a moderately priced (for this restaurant) bottle of wine. This year we celebrated at Scoma's which was where we went on our first date thirty five years ago. The tab was around $125, including a nice wine. We actually enjoyed Scoma's more--certainly our waiter was more friendly although I'm sure that M Mina's doesn't encourage their waitstaff to "fraternize" at the prices they charge. Just be aware that when you visit Scoma's you'll get an "old time San Francisco restaurant" experience. The fish is fresh and cooked perfectly and you certainly don't leave feeling hungry!!!

My family owns this restaurant and I think it is the best seafood EVER! Yes it's pricey but you pay for the food and the service. I would much rather take an hour drive to the city and eat there then go to NASTY Red Lobster! You don't know what good seafood is until you try Scoma's! RIP Uncle Al!
