This is hands down the best Ethiopian (Eritrean) restaurant in SF!! The food is delicious as is the wine. The staff is great and still after 8 years of dining there, we can never wait to go back!

I love this place - the food is spicy enough and great for vegitarians. It's cozy and the food is good - I personally love their homemade Honey wine...you can even buy a bottle or a case of it!

A hidden gem!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/22/06
We eat here regularly...the staff is friendly; the food is fantastic; and the price is right. What more could you want? Atmosphere is unremarkable, but if you're looking for a comfortable place to enjoy great food in a relaxing atmosphere, give it a try; you won't be disappointed. sc

Can any food be better
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/2/06
When i first walked into the restuarant the waiters came rushing to my service and immediately gave me the table of my choice. I was with 2 children and the provided a perfect meal for them. Then i tasted there best dish. It was so adictive, i wanted more and more. After we left my kids were asking to go every weekend which i defintely agreed with. I think the Ethiopian restaurants are revolting ( no efence) but i do recommend Eritrean food

OK Ethiopian Food !! Nothing Great !!
By Kajal, 9/8/05
The place has decent ambiance and service was alright. Their menu is very similar to any ethiopian restaurant. We didn't like the food that much. It was alright.

gone back time and time again
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/30/05
This restaurant is close to my house, so it makes it easy to just go, but that is not the only reason. The food is pretty good and not everything is super spicy ( I don't like spicy food). The service could use some improvement but it is a very relaxed atmosphere, just ask them for a pitcher of water (you'll need it anyways) and they bring it. I have had eritrean at other places in SF and this has the most flavor and depth. I am sure there could be more authentic restaurants but New Eritrea does good with me.

A place to be every weekend. Great Food, Good Music!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/13/05
I just have to say that I have finally stumbled into the Best Eritrean Food Ever! Bay Area you are lucky to have New Eritrea right in your backyard...Sunset district. I had to drive all the way from Beverly Hills to try the food at this restaurant. My trip wa worthwhile. The music, the food and the most friendly waiters and waitresses just made me feel so at home. Ike Cosse and his Blues was outstanding and surely brought so much life into the evening. I cannot say much but try it yourself and you will know what I mean. Great food, and a great place to hang out on a Saturday evening.

My family and I look forward to every weekend when we can back!!!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/5/05
I have every Ethiopian and eritrean Restaurant in the Bay Area. I am a big fan of ethiopian food. Until I tried this restaurant, nothing could be this good. From the service, the atmosphere, the music, the smiles and the food...it kept getting better. I can,t think of any other restaurant I would want to go to after this one. I recommend that you all go and check it out for yourself. I just was there again last week on Saturday . They have Blues now. The reknown Blues singer Ike Cosse plays there. That was a great surprise adding to my enjoyment. Check it out and have fun. I did and will for a very long time. Thank you New Eritrea Restaurant.
