The Beach Chalet Brewery and Restaurant is located in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park where the park meets the Pacific Ocean. Other specials include: Prime Rib on Monday nights and Brunch a la Carte Saturdays and Sundays 8am to 2pm.
I keep going back for the view, hoping the food gets better, but it never does.
It's not that anything is *bad*, just bland, and way too expensive.
But I DO recommend going if the waves are good. The Chalet has a great view -- with a wall of windows looking out over the beach -- so when Ocean Beach starts firing at double-overhead, there's no better place to watch the surfers while grabbing a bite.
I had a great experience at the Beach Chalet !! Service was friendly and the fodd and atmophere were far better thenI'v e experienced in San Francisco Id recommend going there for breakfeast...Sat. Sunday super busy so be prepared to have a beer or two before getting sat
A few years back, I thought the Beach Chalet was another view restaurant. Great view, and that's it.
Big changes, all for the better. Great view still, and a fantastic location to take visitors, or after a day in Golden Gate Park, but the food was very very good, and the service was wonderful. We went at 6 on a Sunday, party of 10, including 6 kids. The staff couldn't have been nicer or more professional. We got great food, very good beers, and a superb view of the sunset on the Pacific Ocean. If you haven't been for awhile, go back. Also, they opened a big restaurant downstairs, and it seemed to be packed too.
I agree with the previous reviewer who said that the microbrews at the Beach Chalet are good. I enjoyed a house IPA with colleagues there last summer. The food was also not bad - not quite Slanted Door standards, but certainly nothing to complain about, either. Get a window seat, and you'll be happy you came.
We ordered margaritas and they didn't come until after we got our lunch order. Someone came around and asked if we wanted bread but never brought it out until after we were done with our lunch. The margaritas seemed to be lacking in tequila and only tasted of lime juice. The food was way overpriced! $15 for two fish tacos???
The view was the only good thing here. The food was Ok but nothing special, the service was terrible - every other table got bread apart from us and they appeared to have forgetten about our order it took so long. Wouldn't go back here.
The best brewery in California. Great ocean views from anywhere in the restaurant. If I were there today I'd have a chicken cesar, hamburger with garlic fries and a riptide red ale or the oktoberfest ale or the beach blanket blonde ale!!! Okay I'd call a cab. So good.
Breakfast: the best in town.
Dinner: romantic and great bands.
Great view of the ocean -- right accross the street from the Beach. Most of the seats are near the window so you have a nice view. Food was good -- we tried their beer sampler. Prices are reasonable, considering that you usually have to pay more for the view. Overall a good experience for those sight-seeing along the Great Hwy and down the coast around San Francisco.
