Great food and service calamari excellent fish and chips wonderful 10/18/2012

I've been coming here for 18 years and it was THE BEST Seafood italian I've ever found. Last year they changed the menu, Nancy no longer is a regular at the front, and the Francesco's Misto hasn't been the same. The clam chowder is still a winner, but compared to what it used to be, it's a loss. After 3 bad experiences (the service is usually not so great unless you know the famille), I'm going to have to downgrade from a solid 5 star to 2... there really isn't any reason to go since the prices have doubled and the quality has been cut in quarters. Sad, but true.

Very tasty, nice large lunch portions! :) I had the basic angel hair pasta, it was excellent!

Decent food, decent prices - terrible service! We were 1 of 2 tables in the bar area but had to wait over 20 minutes just to place our drink order. We waited to place our food order and then had to repeat it 2 more times b/c the bartender was busy talking to himself instead of writing down the order. He then put the order into the kitchen, but had to ask us again so he could enter it into the machine. What should've been a 45-minute meal took almost 2 hours just because of waiting for the bartender. I would not eat here again.

Always friendly, food always wonderful, service is fast.

This place was excellent!! It's one of those restaurants that make you want to come back to the city just to eat there again. Outstanding seafood!!

Visiting a friend in San Fran during fleet week, we happened upon Pompei's grotto. Great food. Bob the bartender was a blast. Had to go back the second day for more food and fun.

On Fishermen's Wharf. Crowd is a good mixture of locals (including working Fishermen) and tourists. Try the Dungeness Crab Leg Saute, and even if you don't like mussells, try them here, they are the best. Local and tourist alike will enjoy themselves. After walk up the block for live music.

Absolutely fabulous food; the best lobster scampi on the planet! I have sent friends and family there since 1971; all have had rave reviews, returned each time they were in San Francisco. Friendly on the wallet and pleasing to the stomach. Much better food and ambience than the Warf!
