This is a great place to eat. We have been frequenting this place since it was opened and I love all the vegetarian dishes they make. Their friendly staff and their willingness to customize some of the dishes to our taste makes our experience more enjoyable.
Wow!!! Darbar serves up great Indian food in downtown Palo Alto. You will not be disappointed with the food . The price is very reasonable and the staff is very attentive. Clean restaurant in the area!
I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants to try Indian food.
I always enjoy eating the food at Darbar but the last two times I've gotten take-out from there, Darbar forgot to include one of the dishes I ordered and paid for. Recommend for eat-in, but not take-out.
We were pretty enthused by the reviews we read, but did not think the food was good at all. We ate tandoori fish, which was clearly not fresh. Mutter-paneer was OK, and chicken biryani was just plain bland. We also got sick from the fish: both of us could not sleep well that night. Chances are pretty low that we will go there again. I recommend you explore Junoon ($$$, fusion) and Hyderabad House nearby.
I had never heard of this Indian restaurant in downtown Palo Alto, and I would have never thought of going there if it hadn't been for a friend's recommendation. The decor is very simple (don't expect a fancy romantic atmosphere) but the food was really excellent; and it was cheap too. We had the chicken tikka masala (boneless tandoori chicken in mild creamy sauce - super yummi) and the chicken tandoori and it was excellent!! I just had wished the chicken tandoori had been boneless but it is just a personal preference. Service was good and the staff was friendly. I recommend Darbar and I'll definitely go there again.
Having only recently moved into the area I have had fun exploring various restaurants. Darbar serves up some great Indian food. I especially love the Butter Chicken. I recommend the Thali Sampler the first time. It gives you about 8 or 9 things to try. Only about $15 and is plenty for two people.
Darbar serves Indian buffet lunches in downtown Palo Alto. For around $10 you can get fill up on the wonderful butter chicken, curry, dal and more. Piping hot Nan is delivered to your table. Mmmmm. Easy, fast, good food.
