Nice place: I enjoyed this place very much, the food was very good! The sushi was fresh and very tasty. I like the variety in the menu and the presentation of the food was a nice amenity. I was a little disappointed with the ambiance. Not a bad thing, I thought it would be a little bit more lively and crowded, but instead of it was more quiet than I thought. Which wasn't a bad thing, since my friend and I didn't have to wait for a table and could hear each other talk. Overall, I would recommend this place, but I little bit overrated, I thought reading from the other reviewers.

On 09.15.07 Saturday evening we walked in and were told it will be 45 minutes. After 40 minutes walked in to check again, we were told that he was sitting reservations first and did not know how long it would be. My wife and I had our cousin and 7 year old nephew out of town who's nuts about sushi. We were looking forward to this meal all day and had bitter sushi at the end. Next time I would walk in, ask for phone number, call, make reservation in front of them and come back at the time I specified - it should be more reliable according to their rules. But I am never going back, probably better for both them and us. I can't believe I am still bitter about it... usually I am not... sorry. I would not have said anything if it wasn't for my nephew.

Creative Rolls for Sushi Lovers
By ,
If you like to try creative variations of sushi rolls, Sushi Bistro is the place to go. The menu gets updated on a regular basis and there are a lot of non-standard sushi rolls - our favorite - Tuna Tower with several types of tuna and various sauces to impress the palete. Also impressive is soft-shell crab integrated into a number of rolls. Located in the inner Richmond, this small venue can get crowded quickly. Reservations recommended on weekend during peak dining times. As noted, parking can be a challenge.

Great food, terrible parking
By ,
The restaurant is located a few blocks off Geary Street in a quiet neighborhood so you'll still have to deal with the terrible parking situation. We opted to focus on rolls rather than entres. The fish was fresh with a few roll combinations that I had never seen before including the 'Yellowtail Basil' (Chopped yellowtail fish mixed with garlic & Italian basil, deep-fried and drizzled in chili and eel sauce) and 'Waikiki' (mango, avocado, and macadamia nuts topped with fresh wather eel). The rolls seemed a little smaller than those offered up by other Japanese restaurants I've visited and might refer to as a 'good value'. Nonetheless, the service was great and the interior of the restaurant was pleasant. Like a previous review, the rush seems to start around 8 PM. Arriving between 7-730 PM on a Friday for a party 6 or less will likely get you a table in 15-20 minutes or less.

Yummy Rolls
By ,
My boyfriend and I went there on a date night and it was perfect, Thursday night about 7:30pm came right before the crowd, we decided to try their specials. Love the crunchy roll, the Afro caucasion dish was fun to eat and their sashimi is cut generously and fresh too! Definitely a good sushi find! Good food was full and didn't break the bank. Our bill came and it was less than $50, we were content.

Heavenly Sushi
By ,
I have been to most of the reenowned sushi restauarants in the Bay Area and they do not compare to my experience at Sushi Bistro. The pieces literally melt in your mouth. The toro was also amazing. Its difficult to stop ordering more pieces because each of them is like a slice of heaven. Its well worth the $$ and when you go, request to sit at the sushi bar.
