On 09.15.07 Saturday evening we walked in and were told it will be 45 minutes. After 40 minutes walked in to check again, we were told that he was sitting reservations first and did not know how long it would be. My wife and I had our cousin and 7 year old nephew out of town who's nuts about sushi. We were looking forward to this meal all day and had bitter sushi at the end.
Next time I would walk in, ask for phone number, call, make reservation in front of them and come back at the time I specified - it should be more reliable according to their rules. But I am never going back, probably better for both them and us.
I can't believe I am still bitter about it... usually I am not... sorry. I would not have said anything if it wasn't for my nephew.
I've never had sushi like this before. It's just absolutely amazing. The flavors of the sushi are wonderful. The rolls are very creative. Fresh fish. The rolls are not stuffed with rice, like some other places. These are quality rolls. Atmosphere's great. Great service.
I've been going to Sushi Bistro for a long time now and the sushi has been consistently good there. I have no reason to go anywhere else, really. The chef, Xin, has a variety of interesting rolls and also makes the standards as well.
What proves that Xin and Debbie really know what they are doing is just how fresh the fish is. After being an enthusiastic sushi eater for the past 25 years, I can say that it's hard to find somewhere that's consistent. But at Sushi Bistro they don't serve it if it smells fishy.
The prices are very reasonable too ... you can either choose a bunch of fancy stuff and pay a bit more, or you can stick with the basics and get out of there very satisfied for under 18 bucks.
Sure the same kind of sushi was only about 12 bucks at the Tsukiji fish market in Japan when I was there earlier during the year. But until plane tickets are 6 dollars, then Sushi Bistro is where I'm going for my fix.
By the way, you may be thinking this is shameless self-promotion because I mentioned the names of the proprietors, however if you go there for a while you'll get to know them well too. I assure you, I'm just a very satisfied customer.
Nice place: I enjoyed this place very much, the food was very good! The sushi was fresh and very tasty. I like the variety in the menu and the presentation of the food was a nice amenity. I was a little disappointed with the ambiance. Not a bad thing, I thought it would be a little bit more lively and crowded, but instead of it was more quiet than I thought. Which wasn't a bad thing, since my friend and I didn't have to wait for a table and could hear each other talk. Overall, I would recommend this place, but I little bit overrated, I thought reading from the other reviewers.
OMG! Chef Xin Zhou delivers absolutely amazing sushi that is like no other. He's an artist and has my respect with every bit. The food is truly authentic in a wonderful modern space. It's my favorite sushi restaurant. It needs to be said again-Impeccable!
Wow! What a treasure. The food, service, ambiance... everything about this place is perfect. I've eaten a lot of japanese food and this place is great! Try the rolls... I can't wait to eat there again.
huge variety of rolls - all yum yum yummy. this place is the epitome of california/hawaiian style suhi, friendly staff and atmosphere. great little family run restaruant- for those of us who prefer small mom and pop places to the big chain restaraunts.
Awesome... sushi place. I 'd highly recommend Sushi Bistro to anyone. The prices are relatively reasonable, with the top quality great tasting fresh sushi.
The chef,Xin is very creative, innovative and friendly. The food is always fantastic and beautifully presented. Great food and proficient service.
I have been to Sushi Bistro several times now, and am a loyal customer, not only because the rolls are delicious, but because the owners make you feel right at home. The sushi chef , Xin, is out of this world with his creations, and Debby gives you great service. If you are ever in the area, you have to check this place out!
