Posted by Anonymous on 07/11/2008 Slow service puts a damper on meal The food was excellent. The price makes the food a great value. The atmosphere is pleasant. However, 60 minutes between the appitizer and the entree is too long. I do not want to be rushed when I go to a restauant, but this was 30 minutes beyond that. I finally had to ask the waiter what was going on. I may go back, but I sure hope someone at the management level of this otherwise fine establishment does something to remedy this.

We had a great dining experience at this restaurant with excellent service and superb food. If you have room for dessert, you have to try the french toast with hazelnut ice cream. Its delectable! The Chef even came over to greet us. I plan to take my family and friends there but next time i will definitely make reservations because the tables fill up quickly.

Service and Food not worth the Cost
By ,
We made reservations for 6 people, but when we arrived our table was not ready. We had to wait over 20 minutes for our table, without an apology from the restaurant; we were told the table was not ready. We were asked if we wanted water when we were seated; we said yes. 10 minutes later, still no water. Another wait person asked if wanted water and we said we already requested it. When the wait person came to take our order we had to ask for water again. Water finally came after we ordered. 3 of us ordered the “sea bass”, but we are not sure if that was what we received. The fish was very meaty and not buttery like what you would expect from sea bass. The lobster sauce that accompanied the sea bass made up for the dish. The escargot was very good though. We had to ask 3 times before we got our ketchup to accompany our fries (pomme frites). The dessert was good, but the bittersweet chocolate cake was about the size of a 2 bite brownie; not big enough to share. When we ordered it with 6 spoons, the wait person did not say anything about the size of the serving. When we received the 6 spoons and 6 dessert plates, we were expecting something shareable; when it came out I just looked at it with surprise. The coconut ice cream that came with the cake was good, but it overpowered the chocolate of the cake. When I asked for low fat milk for my after dinner coffee, they said that they only had whole milk. Overall, we would not return.

We'll never go back!
By ,
The food and service was okay. However as we were getting ready to leave and just finishing our drinks, the waiter came to our table of eight and said we had to leave because they needed our table. We would have been gone in less than five minutes anyway. Very rude. Guess it was a good thing they waited until we had paid our bill and left our tip! Don't waste your money or time, go someplace that wants your business and doesn't push you out the door. Now I received my credit card bill and they charged me more than my receipt.

Delicious Food, Lovely Owner
By ,
I happened to got to the restaurant when the owner was there. He was a lovely man, who was not only friendly but also charming. Because we had made a reservation days before, we were seated almost immediately. The waiter was as lovely and charming as the owner, and I was quite please with the service. For an appetiser we ordered the bruschetta with tomatoes and basil. I ordered the duck breast with mushroom ragout, which was simply gorgeous. It was tender and flavourful with a great sauce to go with it, and the waiter consistedly visited our table to ensure our needs were met. Rather than have the potatoes with my meal, I replaced them with vegetables that were cooked just right. I would have ordered the Prix Fix, but the menu choices didn't include the duck. I followed that with the dessert, simply because they served my favourite: creme brulee. The dessert was delicious; it was neither too thick nor too runny, and it had enough vanilla in it to be noticable without overpowering. The sugar topping was crisp, and the creme brulee was still warm, when it was served to me. The ambiance was a bit overcrowded, with tables somewhat too close together; however, with the number of people waiting, I would imagine they need the tables to serve as many people as possible. Overall, I was very pleased with the service and food. Clemintine is a bit on the expensive side with my budget, but it's well worth it for a nice evening out. I highly recommend this restaurant for a date or a group night out.

Another french restaurant
By ,
The restaurant is in a nice neighborhood. The place is really busy, so the waiter don't really have time to take care of you. And i've seen people w/o reservation wait in line for 40 min while there were open table (reserved ). I'm french myself, the food was good and the desert really good. So don't go there w/o reservation

My favorite in SF
By ,
This is a great neighborhood restaurant. There are lots of locals in the know and it's always busy. The food is fantastic... it is French cuisine. Great wine list, never been disappointed with a wine from it. And if you want to die happy get the caramelized french toast for dessert. Excellent food for the price..very, very reasonable. And the service is exceptional.
