Description

Zazie is a neighborhood French bistro in Cole Valley specializing in the country cooking of Southern France. The well heated garden patio is a delightful place to enjoy a casual, relaxed meal with friends and family. Our menu is seasonal, featuring slow braised rabbit, cassoulet, grilled fresh fish, and a variety of vegetarian options. Zazie invites dog lovers to bring their pup to dinner on the patio on Monday nights (weather permitting) and take $10 off any bottle of wine on our list. Tuesday nights are no corkage nights; bring as many bottles as you can gracefully handle! We are famous for our American style brunch seven days/ week as well, although reservations are not accepted for brunch.

Good Fish Soup!
By Penguinorama, 6/16/05
Good Fish Soup (Provencal)! The other French country fare is also very good, but I especially recommend the Fish Soup. The ambiance of this restaurant is perfect for a nice relaxed dinner with friend, significant other, or even taking out your parents. The decor is French movie and art posters, with very tall ceilings. There is also garden seating.

For spread your toes kind of goodness
By Diana Liu, 2/17/06
Whether you are in the mood for granola and yogurt to crab cake benedict or open faced vegetable panini to nicoise salad, or beef bourguignon to sea bass Zazie is where it is at. Any night is a great night for romance, for business, for delicious spread your toes kind of goodness. The staff is wonderful and friendly, and the food is fantastic, and I really can't say enough. Ambience: There is indoor and ourdoor heated seating. The patio is quaint with ivy and little flowers. This French Bistro really is a well known jewel that always presents something new everytime I go. The children are dressed in the cutest little outfits during the weekend brunch and the evenings are intimate. I'm always coveting the food around me. I spent my 30th here with a few close friends, and Jen, the owner, really did a great job at arranging. She just knows. It is magical. A little red wine, a little white wine, a lot of champagne, some live jazz... So drop by and try it. Don't let the crowd in front deter you. You must try ZAZIE!!!

Zazie is awesome! If you're going on the weekend, make like the staff and zen out as soon as you walk thru the door because there will be a wait (10-40 mins). Put your name on the list and get a cup of coffee or a paper or check out the shops across the street. Once you get a table, you're in for a treat. Sure to please are the french toast, omelette, or any of the breakfast plates. All the eggs they use are fresh. For lunch you can't beat the  cheeseburger. On a nice day, you can bring your dog and eat at the tables outside. Seriously good food!

Respectable value
By cameron marlow, 1/11/06
I was in Cole Valley last night and decided to eat dinner at Zazie. The dishes are creative and the prices are low, but it lacked the level of creativity necessary to make it unique. The service is excellent and Tuesdays offer no corkage fee on wine.

ultra cute brunch spot, service can be slow
By KT, 9/2/05
i fell in love with san francisco at zazie. i was up visiting some friends who took me to zazie one sunny sunday and i knew i had to move up at the earliest oppportunity. zazie is a really charming french cafe, and i love taking friends here because everyone just falls in love with it. the breakfasts are tasty, and the nicoise salad and blt are also very nice. if you order the yummy gingerbread pancake, be sure and ask for lemon curd. this place just oozes charm: from the vintage french posters on the walls to the cute little garden patio in back. because of this, don't be surprised to encounter an extremely long wait on the weekends.

One of my favorite weekend brunch places in San Francisco. Try their gingerbread pancakes and Eggs Monaco. If you go before 11 am you can avoid the long wait. They also have an outdoor patio, which is a huge plus!!

By fergal, 11/18/05
My favorite breakfast spot in SF!!! A must eat for the breakfast. The place makes you feel like your in Paris. A must eat for SF! The egg dishes are the best! For dinner its a perfect. Very romantic place. And the prices are fair.

Toujours moderne...
By Doug, 9/27/05
Zazie exudes a style that never seems to fade or come off as trendy. This French-influence cafe is the perfect place for a fashionably late breakfast or brunch. A variety of seating choices are available: the pet-friendly front sidewalk, the brick-walled inside, or the intimate garden patio. The food is as good as the decor, with hot coffee cake, big bowls of latte, delicious egg dishes, and the best home fries around (watch out for the garlic cloves). Although the inside space is tight and servers sparse, Zazie is an experience that captures the feeling of a lazy morning in the city like no other.
