Across from the former home of the 49ers (Kezar Stadium) in the Haight-Ashbury District, Kezar Pub brings together fans of local teams and international sports enthusiasts alike. A seemingly endless variety of beers and multiple televisions make fantasy football fans happy on Sundays, while European soccer and rugby matches can draw a crowd even at 5 am on a weekday. Pool, darts and video games keep the rest entertained, and other sports such as hockey, boxing, hurling, cricket and even wrestling secure airtime at Kezar. The regulars munch on burgers and fries, nachos, pork chops and Buffalo wings.
loud, lots of sports, great music, best bar food in SF and lots of beers. This is a great place to go with a group of sports fans...they have everything from NFL, MLB, NCAA, MLS, intl soccor, rugby, etc.
Sundays for NFL is packed, plan to get there by 9:15-9:30am if you want a seat for the 1pm games!
It's an Irish sports bar. It's a little less on the Irish side, and a little more on the sports side. This is probably THE best sports bar in the whole city of San Francisco. They must have at least 15 flat-panel tv's mounted up all over the place showing a variety of sports. It's my favourite place to watch football. During big games like the Superbowl they will use planks and table cloths to convert their pool tables into regular tables for people to sit at. I was there to watch the AFC championship game last week and I got there an hour before the game, and was able to get a seat at the bar, but shortly after that the place was so packed we were like sardines. They have my favourite common ale (Fat Tire) and many others on tap. The food is very good as well. Their Buffalo wings and barbecue wings are both excellent, but they only serve a batch of 12, which is a bit much for me, so I get half of them to go. And they recently added some trivia network thing with the remote-control boxes, which I played Friday night. Good times. And geez, how long has Bridget been working there.
Nice, authentic Irish pub atmosphere with all the authentic American sports-bar amenities... So many televisions you cannot stand anywhere in the bar without being able to see at least one of them. British Premier League and Irish League ootball (that's soccer to the American crowd) for a cover.
The Kezar Pub is simply the best Sports Bar in the city. This Irish Pub turned Sports Bar has 20+ TVs (4 big screens, HD, etc), great staff, a ton of beers on tap, and fantastic food -- the buffalo wings are the best in the city. Known best for its 49ers history (the old stadium is right around the corner) the Kezar is often overtaken by East Coast transplants' favorites (e.g. Eagles, Red Wings.)
European sports are also featured with live and taped games shown as demanded by the fans.
I found this bar shortly after I moved to SF in 1999 and started going there to watch the Flyers and Eagles. After a while I noticed some of the same people also cheering for my teams. Some of these folks have become my best friends over the past six years. I have never known an establishment that brings real sports fans together like the Kezar.
Oh, and when there aren't any good games on, they play some kickin' tunes on the sound system.
Fly Eagles fly,
This is the best place I know of to watch major sports as well as those wacky European and other world sports (cricket, rugby, soccer, curling...) if that suits your needs. The food here is good enough - in fact...shamefully, i have eaten multiple meals here in the same day watching football. It does get crowded for big events as it is not that big. But they have tons of TVs, a serving staff that tries very hard and decent buffalo wings...what else do you need out of a sports bar? Oh yeah, their beer collection is solid too.
