Mercedes...Hair of the Dog Cantina has been treating the Bay Area since 1967. The Heart of Mexico in the heart of the Financial District. Located on one of San Francisco's wonderful, hidden alleys, Mercedes is a popular and insider Mexican Restaurant serving the local business lunch crowds and those who stumble upon us. Mercedes is the perfect lunch spot for those with weekly 9 to 5 jobs. Bring back the idea of martini lunches by sharing a refreshing and rejunvenating midday pitcher of margaritas with friends before teetering back to the office. Sit at the bar and enjoy the warm summer breeze that blows in through the open doors and windows, or sit outside and indulge in their famous guacamole while putting some color in your cheeks. We are also available for catering and private parties mornings, late afternoons and evenings, every weekend.
I love this place -- maybe the fond memories of corp life lunch breaks w/ great coworkers! ;)
But seriously, the mexican dishes are pretty good and the occasional margarita w/ the office gang!
Asides from the food, there can be a bit of a wait during the lunch hr...but the positive: you get to people watch all your fellow well-dressed yuppy folks! definitely fond memories of the food, experience, et al! ;)
This restaurant is awesome, the owner Leanna is a cool chick and her dog Gustavo is rad also. I would definitely recommend this place to eat, out of this world chiken soup and burritos and enchiladas to boot!
If you are looking for a hot Mexican restaurant with authentic meals served by authentically friendly people, Mercedes is the place to go. While loud and somewhat crowded at lunch hour, the place is usually abuzz and balanced by its lively and passionate dcor. Generous portions and the margaritas are muy bueno. Ol Mercedes! My sombrero is off to you!!! :-)
