overpriced overrated too crowded with slumming afterwork happy hour crowd, whaaddda bore whaaaadda drag and for apps this bad, they are way too expensive for whatcha get....oh and becuz they cater to the slumming margarita crowd everything is too salty...FYI

A bit overrated, but a fun place to eat nonetheless. The atmosphere makes you crave a Margarita. The guacamole is great.

all fantastic, very casual place

First of all we had to wait almost 40 minutes to get a seat, then the hostess was rude to us when we tried to get a seat at the bar while we waited, then the food was very mediocre while being several dollars more than other local (and much tastier) taquerias. Bottled beer was almost twice as much as other places, too.

Very casual place that is very popular. It's nice to find a mexican restaurant in the city that has table service and good food. If you HATE Chevys then you will LOVE this place. Don't miss the margaritas. You should get a pitcher because you will want more that a couple. Perfect place for groups if you make a reservation.

If you want good cheap Mexican food this is the place! The margaritas are pretty average. They would be better if they used fresh squeezed lime juice instead of a generic mix and had a better selection of tequila. It can be annoying with the mariachi bands that always come through but hey, that's part of the Mission! Always crowded at night so get there early or be prepared for a wait. You can always order food at the bar if you can't get a table.

You know, there is something to be said for basic Mexican food and a restaurant where you can sit down and have chips and salsa from a bowl at your own table. I have no problem with the burrito bars, etc. around the city but sometimes you just want to sit and order from a menu. I made the serious mistake of going to Chevys when I first moved here in my search and couldn't even gag that junk down. This place I really like... simple and good.

The margaritas are just ok. I can't believe they won over Tommy's! Probably because of the idiots who rated Tommy's Joynt instead of the real Tommy's Mexican Restaurant. For those who frequent Puerto Alegre and have never tried a Tommy's please go do it. You'll be amazed at the difference!

i'm actually in mexico right now and i'm missing that restaurant! the atmosphere is fun with the live mariachis that play. the food is great and they have the BEST strawberry margaritas!

Hands down the best margarita in the city. Couple that with amazing Mexican food, solid service and a decent price and you have yourself one first rate establishment.
