Houston's
This is the place to take your cigar and have a Beautiful after dinner in front of the outdoor fireplace. There can be a wait, but the food has never disappointed. The grilled artichokes are divine, and the steak is always quite good. Houston's isn't stuffy, which is refreshing. Service? At the last visit, the wait was two hours, and my rare steak was presented to someone else. However, usually it's fine. The fish sandwich looked good, and the prime rib sandwich is one of my favorites. The wine is great -- a decent local selection.
Houston's is close to the Embarcadero, and offers a view of the water, and a comfortable steakhouse-wooden furniture atmosphere. There is also a long bar in the center, where it is often easier to find a seat for a meal than withstand the wait. It is owned by the same gargantuan restaurant group that owns the Rutherford Grill, Los Altos BAG, Palm Beach Grill, Cherry Creek Grill, and so on. 3.6
