A short flight of stairs in a refurbished Victorian leads to this tiny gem called Ploy II. The decor is airy and bright with pale walls and lace curtains, reinforcing the old-fashioned ambiance. There are a few spicy-hot items on the menu, but the majority of the items are mild with coconut or citrus as the base of the piquant flavor blend. The Haight Street locals dig into succulent gingered chicken served by a cheerful wait staff. There is a nice selection of noodle and rice dishes that can be prepared with chicken, fish, beef or veggies, each flavorful and served in large portions.

4 reviews for Ploy II-Thai Cuisine
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/11/09
Absolutely the best Thai food in California hands down. I have eaten in about 5 Thai restaurants in San francisco. And quite another few in bay area sacramento and elk grove Nothing compares to this place.

Great thai food ! A must try
By Jon, 11/07/06
First, I want to thank the people that previously reviewed this awsome restaurant.I chose to go here because of so many 5 star reviews. If you didn't know it was there you would walk right past it.Just a single door and a little stairway take you up above the Haight in a quiet and very comfortable atmosphere.Like you are eating in a friends living/dinning room. The owner and her beautiful staff took very good care of our table of four. The food was excelent ... chicken satay skewers to start come with a delicious peanut sauce and cucumber salad. The rice comes out in a big silver pot and everyone gets a scoop. Then pad thai , lemon chiken, mushroom beef and garlic prawns for the main. The food is very reasonable and you get plenty. For four people drinks and dinner was 62 $ .I was very impressed.I am not cheap and would be willing to pay 100$ for this same meal and service anywhere anytime. This restaraunt is a must try in anyones book .

best kept secret in the upper haight
By richard, 11/02/05
hard to find this place, it is just a small door without much signage. once upstairs, the view down to haight street is good. huge bonus is no streetfront windows for the homeless to stare at you while you sup. food is wonderful, staff is very nice. try the corncakes and chicken silver noodles.
