Breakfast of Champions, Locals and Loyalists
If you haven't had the chance to try Ella's in Laurel Heights for breakfast - you're in for a treat. Ella's not only has the nicest proprietor, Danny, but the staff is like an extension of some of your favorite family members. The best kept secret is the food - don't miss an opportunity on the rare weekend when Ella's has Poppy Seed Pancakes on the menu or for a savory fix the potato scramble with feta, spinach and pine nuts fills the hole nicely, too (for my fellow Atkins friends, Ella's will gladly substitute potatoes for eggs!) Crowd control - weekdays are your best bet followed by Saturdays. On Sunday, even though Danny is a friendly chap, the wait can make you a bit cranky. Danny - a word to the wise - serve O.J./Mimosas to those hungry waiting masses on Sunday! We will come back anyway - but the thought would be nice. Don't forget to enjoy the spectacular floral arrangements. Best seat - Right Side Counter, to watch the crew make fresh biscuits, breads and pies behind the counter. (Hard to believe there is that much butter in the universe....) Ella's provides you with a change up to your basic scrambles, a flare for variety, friendly staff, and cozy neighborhood atmosphere. Did I mention the POPPY SEED PANCAKES? Molly-Pacific Heights
