expensive but good
By Mike La Rotonda, 5/8/06
This is a tiny little place run by a husband and wife team. The sushi is the freshest Ive ever had. If you like trying new things I recommend the Omakase, which is a 6 course, chefs tasting menu. The night I went we had sashimi, sushi, noodles, a curd soup w/ fish and fried crab dumplings. If you go definitely sit at the sushi bar where youll get some special treatment from the owner. The one drawback to this place is price. The omakase with beer, sake and tip cost me $75.

Real and Authentic Japanese Food
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/26/06
My family and I go to Kiss at least once a month. The food is not too heavy and when you leave, you do not feel stuffed or weighed down. The food is very delicious, and my mother who is Japanese and lived in Japan for two years cannot believe how good every item on the menu is! The sushi bar is authentic, and the chef is such a great guy. He is nice and tries to get to know his clients. Many people in the restaurant are regulars, and it is not hard to understand why they keep coming back for more. The only problem is that there are only 12 seats. There is not much room, so reservations are a must. Parking is hard too, but whatever, it's San Francisco.

the real simple and good food
By mabels, 9/27/05
I really hope that not many people know about this place, it's a small but delicate place fit max 16 people, but hey, the best is the best, you can never hide it. Sushi chef pick the best fish critically by himself from the fish market everyday. And prepare them in a simple and elegant way. You will not only appreciate the food he made for you but you'll also enjoy watch him doing them right in front of you (if you sit at the sushi bar, and sorry only five lucky people can have that in a roll). Besides excellent food, the dishware are also pieces of art (please handle them carefully, you might get the one cost $60 a piece). Everything he made is good, so just try anything possible if you have the budget! And don't forget to order a cup of sake to go with it, excellent sake list as well.

A gem of a sushi bar!
By KT, 8/19/05
In a way, I hate to give Kiss a rave, b/c I want to be able to get a table at this teeny tiny venue. But I just can't hold back: Kiss serves incredible sushi!! The fish is absolutely pristine: well worth the premium they charge. Even though it's spendy (about $40), the omakase is still a wonderful deal: 5-6 delicious, well prepared courses of outstanding variety. I've had it at least 5 times and I never get tired of it. We brought a Japanese friend here, and she also raved about the quality. I'd rather have one incredible, unforgettable meal at Kiss than two sub-par sushi dinners somewhere else. The ambience is very pleasant: relaxed, and intimate.
