Delfina Restaurant, San Francisco

Several friends have raved about Delfina to me, and it's a nice upscale-casual type place, but I wasn't overly impressed. The rabbit gnocchi I had was excellent, as was the reduced minestrone & bread appetizer. But everything else was. . .fine. I should say the wine list was excellent - a thoughtful range of bottles clearly well-matched to the menu. Appreciated that they had a Bellini on the menu as an apertif!

This is a great, un-pretentious, welcoming restaurant with great food. highly recommend

Love it! Excellent food focussing on fresh ingredients. The only thing I dont like about it is the usually-long wait. Pros: very good pastas, excellent organic meats, jetsetter atmosphere Cons: having to make reservations in advance, parking (update as of jan 2006 - the last time i went, something was wrong - the chef seriously over-salted everything, and my dessert was just so-so. bummer).

I enjoyed my meal, but they seemed a bit too full of themselves. I found them rude over the phone when booking a reservation. There are lots of other great places to eat in the area, so the attitude and the wait are not worth it in my opinion.

Some friends recently invited me to this lovely place on 18th street. They informed me that this is a truly great Italian restaurant, and sindc I didn't trust their palate too much, I expected huge portions of unappetizing salad and meatball spaghetti. What a pleasant surprise when I saw the menue. Only a few items under each category, all of them showing the desire to go beyond the ordinary. I tried two starters (marinated anchovies, fried sardines) and was very happy. The staff was helpful, the wine list small but with sufficient choices, and the athmosphere lively, bright and inviting. I will definitely go back...as soon as I can get a reservation :-)

The food are delicious from the appetizer to the dessert everytime we come back. The services are friendly and great.

The pasta was great and our waiter was very attentive with out hovering.

This restaurant has a variety of food, all fantastic. The staff are friendly and attentive. It's hard to get bookings, so call ahead. The chocolate souffle cake is unbelievably good.
