Very good meal, portions perfect sizes so that you can order lots and try many different things. The only downside to the restaurant is the toilets! They only have four for the entire restaurant and bar (and it was packed!). I had to wait in line on two occasions. Food was excellent, service was good (they were very busy) - the view is fantastic. Perfect evening. Definately expensive but worth every penny!

I recently went to the Slanted Door in the Ferry Building location after not having been there since they were located in the mission. OMG, I felt like I was at the Fisherman's Wharf. This place was too touristy, expensive and the food was nothing special. For upscale Vietnamese food, I still prefer Le Colonial.

not so great

Truly over-rated. My parents wanted to dine where Bill Clinton ate. They left discontent.

Totally over-rated. Ferry Building location is loud, touristy, and well... kinda lame.

Too pricey for even prentention sake
By ,
A small group of us went to this restaurant with the idea of having a top level meal. We were terribly disappointed with the quality and price of the food compared to portions. WE assumed that family style really meant just that. The pretentiousness caused us all to laugh through the entire ordeal. The bright spot was our waiter, Samuel, who laughed right along with us. The coed bathroom was the last laugh of the night. I guess we are just not trendy enough to value this kind of dining. We left hungry and money spent. It was a good thing that the wharf is close by with fun places to eat and still get some good food. The place was loud and packed. We did not quite understand what the hoopla about this restaurant was all about.

Delicious Every Time
By ,
This restaurant serves unique but absolutely delicious food. Each dish is presented as if it were a piece of art. The environment of the Slanted Door is one that is welcoming and warm, very family friendly. I love the twist of modern and old-style decor, and who could forget the beautiful view of the San Francisco Bay. Although a bit pricey, the Slanted Door is the perfect place for a meal whether it be with family and friends or business associates. Be sure to try the Crispy Imperial Rolls!

We can't wait to get out !!
By ,
We (a Vietnamese gourmet cook) went with a friend from England who enjoyed our foods tremendously. We were totally disappointed. The place is loud, pretentious and the foods were lousy. Simple thing like a roll was poorly executed - not rolled tightly and the stuffing was falling out as you dipped them in the sauce. Furthermore, they tried too hard to fit some strange palate - the payaya salad did not have the balanced taste of steamed pork and poached prawns (and worse yet - did not have the proper Thai basil...). We ordered the grilled pork and the pork was still raw (beyond pink...). The duck was ok and so was the Dungeness crab vermicelli noodles - too overwhelmed with sesame oil. The music was loud and the patron was pretentious. The price was outrageous for the quality and we WILL NOT come back. By the way, go to Le Colonial - Cosmo place and Jones. The place reminded me of a proper, high quality, classy (e.g. colonial) Vietnamese restaurant that you would find in Da Lat.

Good hang out place
By ,
4 of us spent a good $$$$500. The drinks are okay, the girls at next tables were great. The food... I do not remember. I had to eat at international pancake house for breakfast afterwards. Will I go back, you bet... As long as I am not paying. Can't wait till summer!!!

Will Come Back For Seconds
By ,
My family just had a little gathering at this trendy waterfront restaurant. I like the simple yet elegant interior design. The unisex bathroom took a little bit of getting use to. The food, though labeled Asian Fusion may be too FAMILIAR, but the presentation is absolutely delectable. Service was outstanding. If ever I am in the city again, I won’t hesitate to include a reservation at this place again.
