Over-hyped. Food bland and very average. Prix-fixed meal with service and tax was $146 per couple without cocktails or wine. Write this one off.

Just a hint too much attitude is reflected in the need to stand in line even when holding a reservation, but once seated the unwelcoming start is soon forgotten. Food is an imaginative take on Vietnamese with some other Asian and global influences, but the highlight is the extraordinary wine list: There may not be a single bottle you've ever heard of, but each wine has been expertly selected to partner brilliantly with the food.

Food was good but not spectacular; the drinks were outstanding! Service was perfect...

I don't understand the wait list nor all the accolades given to this restaurant. The minimalist decor gives it a cafeteria-like ambiance. The food is good, but not price justified at all, especially with the miserly portions that are suggested for sharing. So many better restaurants in SF for the money. I will not be back....

Well the food and service was awesome! We did however, endure a woman who claimed to be the reason the Slanted Door was a success...Marisa Churchill? She told us at least 1/2 a dozen times about her influence over the menu and how they did not name 2 recipes after her. She insisted that she thought she had "legal grounds" to insist they did! All in all, we had our evening ruined by the drunk(we hope) rantings of Marisa Churchill and her constent references to Top Chef. She is easy to spot, in her short skirts and charm in similar quantity. So, check the reservations...the hostess said she's a regular...YIKES!

This place is nice: We tried this place last Sunday. Since the waiting line is long, we can't wait but sit at the bar. The food is good and special, there are a variety of drinks and they are great However, the price is way too expensive. It could be a fun place to hang out once in a while. Maybe I'll come back soon.

Slightly disappointed, but we couldn't order a la carte because of the group size. Will try next time with fewer people

They have good food and a variety of selections, but service is terrible.

Food's good but not awesome. They do a great job with the meats - onions and lamb and especially the rib-eye steak, $33. Didn't like the claypot chicken or carmelized prawns as much. Desserts were OK - lemon tart was better than the tapioca, both $9. The Reed natural ginger ale was really good. We liked the crab and asparagus soup too which came in a clear savory broth. Great ambience, noisy, crowded but decent food at a price.

The food and decor bay views are amazing. The oven roasted alaskan halibut with spicy gingered fish sauce moist and delicious. However, our lunch-time server was not efficient or friendly.
