EOS Restaurant & Wine Bar, San Francisco

If you go to EOS and you want to experience a good place to taste a flight of wines and have an opportunity to talk wines with the bartender then go to the EOS wine bar behind the restaurant...entrance is around the corner from the restaurant entrance. They serve the entire restaurant menu in a more laid back wine focused place.

The EOS wine bar is a great place to have a glass of wine. EOS restaurant has very good food with good solid service...... Try and sit upstairs if you can.

Both the restaurant and wine bar are great - if the wine bar is not crowded, i prefer it for a more intimate occassion or to get a flight. Some menu recommendations - the Shi-itake Mushroom Dumplings are delicious. I have made friends get this who do not like mushrooms and everyone LOVES this dish. Also, highly recommend the skirt steak and ahi tuna tower. They often have good desserts (a peach blueberry crumble warmed w/ vanilla ice cream I once recall) so it's a great place to just grab a glass of wine and dessert as well.

the wine menu is laid out logically from light whites down to heavy reds, and there's a good variety of wines by the glass. the space is dark but not too dark, the waitstaff is hip and dressed all in black, and the place was full but not crowded-feeling on a recent saturday. since it's a wine-bar, they dont care if you're not ordering food, which is nice because you can linger over your vino while looking into your date's eyes. :) prices on the food looked high, but i didnt try it, so i'm not sure if it's fitting.

I like to eat in the city a lot, and wine is one of my favorite hobbies, so of course EOS is one of the places I had to try. It was pretty good, but often your experience is as much about the company you're with as the restaurant itself. The mushroom dumplings are very very good, and I strongly recommend them. The rest of the food was good, but not exceptional. For wine, they have wines by the glass, but honestly, not as many as I would have hoped for given the name of the place. Still, the wine we selected was fine and there was more selection than a regular restaurant. Note that the place is really split in two as being a wine-bar and a restaurant side-by-side as it were, so you can go for the food, or the wine, or both!

I was so excited to have dinner at EOS. They sat us 1/2 hr late. Which was okay, the mgr. treated us to an appetizer. The food is excellent, please try the rice pudding its awesome. My friends and I didn't agree to well with the service. The waiter left out a lot of our dishes that we ordered. Very disappointing. It got to a point where we cancelled the remaining dishes. Even-tho we really wanted to try their duck dish. Note: Their dish size is small. All and all the food was excellent. Hopefully, the waiter was just having a bad night or needed to be somewhere later that evening. Ciao!

Exquisitely delicious Asian Fusion that is worth the trip, located in an upscale neighborhood. The Thai salad have an interesting mix of flavor, every bite is worth savoring. Delicious small plates of lemongrass/edamame risotto, beef/tofu/eggplant, and prawn cakes. Save some room for their decadent desserts such as Kaffir Lime Rice Pudding, five spice chocolate creme brulee, and Bananamisu

That's a direct quote from the waiter on my first visit to Eos. And he was absolutely right. The shiitake mushroom dumplings ARE indeed to die for. I love the tapas-style dining experience, and the food is very good. However, the plates are really small, so it gets pretty expensive if you want to eat your fill. But the atmosphere is great, and the waiters are incredibly nice. It'll be packed even on weeknights, so you need that reservation. All in all, it's a great night out for dinner. And what's more -- you know how hard it is to find the right place for a first date? I found that Eos makes a great first date (three times)!

Great food, but its very loud and can be difficult to hear your dinner-mates.

But worth it for the amazing food!

The restaurant is great but I prefer the Wine Bar next door. Do yourself a favor and saddle up to the bar and order a few appetizers as the bartender pours you wine. The place has great atmosphere. Enjoy your wine as the N Judah train goes by in the background. Try a cheese course after dinner.
