Best Nicaraguan Food in the Bay Area
If you're looking for authentic and tasty Nicaraguan food this is the place to go. Be warned that it's very casual and cafeteria style. My favorite is the plate that comes with carne asada, pork, gallo pinto (rice and beans mixed together), fried green and brown plantains, cabbage salad, and fried cheese. Nicaraguan restaurants tend to over cook their meat but the carne asada and pork are always tender and juicy here. If this is your first time trying Nicaragua food, you have to have a bite of everything at once. Otherwise the taste will be too bland or strong (e.g. salad). My favorite drink is 'Cacao' (chilled milk blended w/ 100% cocoa powder). The desserts are very good but tend to be on the sweet side.
