Description

We do one dish exceptionally well--prime rib. House of Prime Rib sprawls over five rooms with comfy banquets, spacious tables, and fireplaces. There are two fresh fish dishes on the menu, but we have been known for fine prime rib since 1949.Gift Certificates available by phone or in person.

I believe my husband knows the maitre d' at the House of Prime Rib. I suspect they also have our telephone numbers, and perhaps a variety of information in their in-house database too because when my husband came in last week and ordered 3 prime rib dinners to go, a portion of the order was forgotten by the kitchen. They weren't able to bring it out on time, but at the time they discovered the mistake, my husband had already left the premises. This I know, because I received a message on my cell phone alerting me of the problem. I suspect they have our contact information, because how did they have my cell phone otherwise? Perhaps I gave it a long time ago while making reservations, who knows. Well, to make a long story short, my husband was already home by the time we found out about the mistake and so he called the restaurant. The person who answered the phone was very apologetic, and they sent someone to our house to bring the rest of the food so we wouldn't go without. I believe they also included some goodies in there to further apologize for the mistake too. Now the drive from House of Prime Rib, to my house is at least 30-45 minutes long with traffic during that time of day. With such fantastic customer service as that, this is only one of the reasons why we're regulars. The food is absolutely fantastic too. We especially love their King Henry cut, and dressy-casual atmosphere. Not too informal, but not too casual either. Just right. We'll regularly patronize this restaurant for as long as they remain open.

i must admit the prime ribs were out of this world. it was one of the best i ve ever tried. i found parking nearby so it didnt create a problem for me. the atmosphere of the waiting area as well as the restaurant was really enjoyable. but i have to warn you... the man behind the check in booth is a JERK!! he carries himself as if he s a star from hollywood and people are lucky to be able to talk to him or something. fortunately he was the only one without a personality. everyone else was really polite and friendly. i heard the old gentleman who goes around from table to table and greet customers is the owner...he was really really sincere and friendly.

I must be honest.... its worth being there but getting there seems to be a real problem, you have to book it in advance and also need to be flexible about your timing.... now this becomes a real problem if you planning a big get together, anyway after all these I must say again its worth all the pain!

I have been going to the House of Prime Rib for 25 of my 33 years of life and please remember it is the HOUSE OF PRIME RIB, not a steak house. When I was younger less people went there and the service had been excellent. However, since their notoriety has increased the service has slightly diminished. Also, the prime rib is not the same if you order the actual prime rib cut. If you want to really eat something good-get the ENGLISH CUT. You will not be disapointed. Thinner slices equals more flavor. A steak is from Ruth's Chris, no doubt. But here is where you get truly great prime rib. 4 out of 5 stars.

The House of Prime Rib is one of my all-time favorites. My wife and I are prime rib snobs, and we've always loved the House of PR. It's a slice of the City, and the elegance is natural. Although the slabs are sometimes a little fatty and the temperature may not always be perfect, the quality of the meat is great. I think for a really good piece of meat in San Fran, this is a good spot, for sure.

I went to this place for the first time and cannot believe that I had not gone there sooner. They don't have much to choose from but all the food is great and the ambiance is good for large or small groups! Am looking forward to going there many more times.

I have been going to this restaraunt since I was a kid and I'm in my 30's now. They have the best prime rib, yorkshire pudding, creamed spinach... just to mention a few. The salad is to die for! The cocktails are great too. Never been let down for the quality of food they serve.
