This dinner was a gift from the love of my life because she knows I am a red meat lover.
We arrived about five minutes ahead of our reservation and were told that they would be "opening another room" shortly so it would be a few minutes. We looked for a place to sit and wait but where? Nowhere to sit so we did our best not to get in the way as they seated others who arrived after us?? Then "Ron" arrived with his date..... Don't know who he is but they tripped all over themselves welcoming him. We finally wound up seated at a table next to them.
Our waiter was obviously told that they were special because they never had to wait for anything, unfortunately none of that rubbed off on us at the next table.
My wife ordered the smaller City Cut and I ordered the House of Prime Rib Cut (also small), we both had the salad and the Yorkshire Pudding, Creamed Spinach and Baked Potato. What a terrible disappointment. Hers was small but IMO, so was mine, less than 1/2" thick (you could almost see through hers), both medium rare. It tasted OK but not exceptional and I would have thought for the money, they would have taken this whole roast and set it aside because it had so much silverskin through it. The fixin's were decent, about equivalent to the beef. I must say though, we both thought the dessert and double Caps were good.
I hate to be negative but it was disappointing to say the least. Not only was the food only soso but the ambiance....well there was none, terribly noisy.
I think next time I want prime rib, we'll go to Applebees, then at least if it's not good, I won't be so disappointed, about 1/3 the price.
