Mitchell's Ice Cream, San Francisco

Found this place by accident this weekend. Great ice cream fun and friendly staff.

Excellent, but overpriced. Thus only four stars. Hate to criticise, but can get as good as ice cream at the super for a lot less. Fun to sit on the bench outside and watch the passerbys.

My favorite place for ice cream...this is the only place I go for icecream...the texture, the flavor, everything about the ice cream here is great. Even if the weather is cold, there is always a line. Great place for on the go ice cream cones, sundaes, etc...its worth the money. We love to take our gallons of mango, mint, chocolate, vanilla, ooffee, rocky road and they used to have New York cheesecake icecream. The cakes are also a must. I love this place...my mom feels the same way, if we are going to dig into some fat/calories in icecream it better be the best!

There's always a line, rain or shine, hot or cold...and San Francisco can get very chilly! Brrrrr! I've been one of those people in line with parkas, scarves, and mittens. The ice cream is fantastic and may possibly be the best I've ever had. I love mango, white pistachio, and their banana shake. Yummm! Warning: Long line.

I am from Wisconsin, you know 'The Dairy State', and this is the best ice-cream I have ever had. Unfortunately I live in the east bay, but you bet we make the drive when I can't handle the cravings anymore!!

hard to park, but worth the trek, the true mitchel: the secret is to park at safeway and trek over to mitchells. to really enjoy the true mitchell experience you need to order tropical - ube, mango, lychee, etc; or get a good cup of halo-halo.

Service may be a bit slow, but that's because the line always wraps around the block. I love this place, fresh made ice cream. Umm, yummy, if I could take some with me when I travel.

Great unusual flavors, always a line on hot days! Wish they had somewhere to sit, though...

I LOOOOVE this place. My last name is Mitchell, as a kid i used to tell folks my family owned the joint :-P. I grew up in the glen park area. This is a favorite place to take out-of-towners.

Mitchell's is the best ice cream thus far. The wait inline on the warm San Francisco day is far more worth it. If I didnt live here I would visit simply for my strawberries in cream... Not oversweet just perfect.
