Although it has a lot of good qualities, it seems to have grown old. The service is slow, and then extremely fast. Some of the dishes were remarkably bad--the lobster in the lobster salad was not cooked properly, or it was cooked from poorly unfrozen lobster. The bison was tough. On the other hand, the duck was superb, as were the desserts (we ordered 7 of 9). I doubt I would go back again.

Just celebrated 44th wedding anniversary with dinner at Gary Danko's. I must agree with a previous review complaining of the predatory welcoming process of offering a glass of champagne, predatory because of the $39 charge for it on the bill at the end of the meal. Since it was our first visit and highly recommended I did not think a reading of reviews was a mandatory requirement. I expected better treatment than this less than honest and deceptive practice. On a positive note, the meal was outstanding and the service was great. We would go again but not accept anything offered without a menu or pricing.

Amazing food, amazing service, for an amazingly high price. The long wait for a reservation is ridiculous, but you can almost always get a couple of seats at the bar (same menu served there a little more informally) if you get there early.

Was here 5 years ago & glad I returned, a beautiful place & a wonderful dining experience & knowledgeable wait staff, the wine list prices were over the top, but what a selection! An expense account place or special occasion place, seems like everyone was having a birthday! Would return loved it both times! Not sure they should be @ a 29 however....

Lived up to the hype, and a 3 course meal for $68 is a rare value at this level of quality. Love the concept - you pick the courses and the chef adjusts the portion to fit the sequence. Service is over the top with only one weak link in the chain (sommilier never made an appearance after I made a request). Wine list is massive but with lots of gems. In hindsight we should have decanted - wines are at cellar temp 55 and tight as can be.

Dessert was the best part of the meal. Considering the level of expectation based on the ratings, the staff was a little slow, and when they finally showed, were a little pretentious. The courses were all delicious. The technical skills were evident with regard to the preparation and the presentation was fine, but I couldn't help but feel the food lackeda little heart and soul. I will definitely go again, but I don't believe Danko rates a 29.

Not impressed, service was off considering how many servers vs guests. The wine was decent at best and I waited two months to go here on our honeymoon and the Glazed oyster were good and tuna apps, The duck was ok, my girl had the pork belly which was great. And the desserts were very disappointing. Maybe I expected so much more but if its Not the owner cooking needs updating on reviews changing to a 26 still above average but def NOT 29

A very elegant and lovely restaurant with great and friendly service, they truly aim to please. There were small, appetizer size portions for each course. The wine that was recommended by the sommelier did not mesh well with the food; he also showed up a little late to our table. The menu was creative but the execution was a bit lacking in that dishes were consistently salty. Very nice presentation.
