Don’t let the fancy exterior and the white linen table cloth or the fantastic view of the Bay Bridge fool you into thinking that your meal will be costly. The most expensive item on the menu is the grilled rack of lamb covered with minted zinfandel sauce, served with mashed potatoes and sautéed squash ($13.950) And Sonny's Mom's sweet potato pie is to die for. The Delancey Street Restaurant fits both my desire for a good meal(after a three mile walk from Fisherman's Wharf) and my wallet which is thinner than my waist line.

My friend and I had just come from Santa Cruz and were exhausted and very hungry. Walking down Embarcadero, we were faced with closed doors for blocks because it was so late at night. Finally, after forty minutes of walking, I spotted this restaurant that looked fancy. At first I thought it was an expensive restaurant with tired and strict waiters, but it was the complete opposite. They happily seated us and took our orders patiently. The food was amazing! I had a leg of lamb and mashed potatoes while my friend had chicken pasta, and the whole thing was just under $23. When we left, everyone there waved and said goodbye and even helped us find our way back home. It was the best service and food I had ever had, and I have been telling everyone I know about this restaurant since.

very great place to eat. my gf and i went there before a giants game so we parked at pier 36, walked to the restaurant and enjoyed a great meal before the game. we both ate, had some cappucino(?), left a $5 tip and the bill was under $25. great service, great food and a spectacular view of the bay!

Very nice place, very good food, decent prices
By Milan, 7/2/07
My wife had a branch with her friends at this place. My kids and I went around town for a walk and worked up an appetite before we joined her. Food was very good, staff was extremely (kid) friendly. The prices are decent and food is excellent value for the price. I am sure we will go back.

Bland Food and Poor Service
By jewelscc, 5/13/06
Sorry to ruin the stellar reviews here, but I feel compelled to write this review because I couldn't believe how bad the service was. I came here twice for Sunday brunch and both times the service was extremely poor. The first time, we had to track our waiter down for more coffee or condiments, who had disappeared and never came by to check on us. When he was found, he was chatting and horsing around with other waiters towards the back. And it wasn't busy at all in the restaurant! Some of the waiters, including ours seemed more interested in chatting with their fellow co-workers then checking on customers. Since Town's End Restaurant (much better) was packed on Sunday we reluctantly decided it a second chance. The second time, was pretty much the same, and this time we noticed that the host greeted and checked up only on select clientele and regulars, asking how they were doing. But he skipped our table and some others. Other patrons even commented on it on our way out. The food iteself is not that great. We all agreed that the food was a bit bland and not worth it. I don't know if it's better at dinner. Although I live in the neighborhood and enjoyed the nice ambiance, the service and the food are keeping me away. Highly unrecommended.

Great overall!
By jadeheart, 9/26/05
It's a great place to eat, the food is always good and fills you up. It's got a classy atmosphere where you can go for a romantic dinner or for a birthday party. Go dressed up or dressed down. Great location and free valet parking!
