Street is a neighborhood restaurant serving New American Cuisine, boutique wines and a full complement of alcoholic beverages.Designed and built by owners Lynn Ramsey and John Lamkin, along with help from friends, Street occupies the space that previously housed Sweet Heat, a Mexican fast food restaurant. The space was almost entirely gutted and rebuilt after Sweat Heat closed in December 2000. All elements of design were conceived by the partners--from the Babinga wood bar to the handmade light fixtures created by chef /owner John Lamkin. Supplemented by custom wood and metal, Lamkin's pet red wall with textured green accent dominates the space and warms the room with an organic quality that complements the opposing poured cement wall.
Our group loved each entree: the famous sirloin burger, home made gnocchi, chicken done in a nouveau-style tower and halibut. Delicious warm chocolate cake and the bread pudding has to still be one of the best I have tasted.
Good neighborhood restaurant in the Russian Hill area. Easy to walk-in and have a short wait for a table. Food is good, especially the burger and the pork/shrimp wontons and don't foget the warm chocolate cake. Good atmosphere but it can get a little loud when it gets busy.
This was the best experience we have had in a long time at a resturant. Menu selection outstanding,Food was outstanding and perfectly presented and better than we have had at pricier establishments. Service outstanding, recommend you ask for Paulette we will never forget her!
Hurray for John and Lynn!!! This place is pure neighborhood with a great staff and superb food and cocktails. Thumbs up, all around. Hint: The dessert menu is not to be missed. Start with the breadpudding.
