Dined with a party of eight for a birthday dinner last week. We were charged for two items we did not order and the waiter gave himself a higher gratuity then the mandatory 18.5% the restaurant requires for parties of 6 or more. On top of that the service was terrible!! The waiters were slow and kept taking glasses and plates before we were done. We actually had to stop them twice to bring glasses back. One of the members of our group had their credit card swiped twice! For a $550 dinner we were rushed and overcharged and the food was just okay. There are better restaurants in the city that do not overcharge their customers and provide service that makes your business feel appreciated. It's been a terrible hassle to correct billing errors and they have refused to credit items that were erroneously charged. I will not be going there again and hope everyone that reads this thinks twice about it, but if you do....check your bill!!!

Whenever you make a reservation to a restaurant you expect them to save you a table for the time you asked for, right?? well at First Crush they dont work that way. yes, you can make a reservation but once you arrive (on time I should say) you still probably going to wait for another 30 minutes. not such a good beginning. during dinner - and that is only after the really noisy table next to us left- and that is with no intervention from the manager on duty, the service was pretty slow, we've being constantly asking for more wine and waited for 20 minutes. the final disaster was when the entries were served - COLD & UNDER COOKED!!! shame that a $30 dish served this way. we were very unhappy at this point, and to add on it when we left the 2 waiters that served us (we were 10) together with the manager on duty talked badly about us. very rude! I will never go back there and will never recommend this place. spare your time money and appetite and choose a better place

Nice atmosphere, but the service was slow and they automatically charged our group 20% for a tip. They overcooked my food and the taste was very average.

Food was overpriced...
By ,
Food was overpriced for the quality and portions received. The appetizers were overpriced as well, but the shortribs was about the only thing that tasted decent besides my drinks. Another thing is the waiter and bus boys were taking away plates that still had food on them. I will not be returning for the food.

Just Average
By ,
Not the romantic venue I expected. Just an average eatery serving slightly above average food with below average wait staff at a fairly high price. I would look elsewhere..

Whenever I'm around Union Square I always think there aren't any good places for locals - but this places is great! Its cozy - good for a date night if you're in the little area upstairs. The food was pretty good - I'll agree that it wasn't 5 stars, but the short ribs were really tender. The oysters - served warm with an aoli were also really fantastic.

Wine offerings got my interest.
By ,
Wine list is comprehensive for California. The flight offerings were nice. Great way to try more than one varietal of wine. Wait staff is adequate. Food above average, enjoyed the beet salad and chicken. Some of the seating on the upper floor can be quite tight to the next table making overhearing conversation hard to avoid.

Good Service and good food even for a party
By ,
Had a 20 people party in here on a Saturday night and we were tucked into the back of the restaurant, with even a black curtain to seperate us into our crazy world. The food at the restaurant was OK. For appertizers, we had baked scallop which is very yummy and creamy, slightly seared tuna which went well with roasted pepper and tomato, scallop with butter sauce that was a bit overdone and crab cake that was gracefully spiced up with pepper at the bottom (but over $10 bucks for a big one? Ouch on the wallet! ) For entrees, we mainly ordered peppercorn duck and rib eye. The duck was delicious, cooked with heavily marinated skin with black pepper. The meat was cooked medium rare and tasted juicy, smooth and soft. For the first time, I finished every pieces including the skin! The dish also came with vegetable and pash potato. The vegetable was just boiled under hot water, but went well with the duck sauce. The mash potato was nothing special. The rib eye came disappointed with not much flavor from the meat or the oven. I also tried some wild mushroom tortellini and it was delicious both in aroma and palate! Overall, it was a good place to hang out, and kudo to the solo-waiter who took care of all our crazy demanding massive needs.
