Cozy and Cute
By Amber, 3/21/07
Although the wines by the glass selection is limited for a wine bar the ambiance makes up for it.

best wine bar in s.f.
By Antoinette, 9/27/05
i love the way the smelly cheese hits me hard when i enter this place, then permiates my clothes and pores with it's cheezy goodness. the wines are wonderful, the service is great, and it is always intersting to see who is making out on the back room couch. this is a tres sexy place to go after a romantic dinner and before...um, well you know!!

Hotel Biron don't let name fool u best wine bar
By David, 9/27/05
Hands down best wine bar. This is from MR SF. The atmosphere envokes what wine is about, romance, friends, button down conversation, some music, dance and laughter aka LIFE. I lived there 6 years. Not that SF has enough wine bars to make the competition stiff. But Hotel Biron, as its called is really a small, swanky, hidden gem with modern world funiture and local art work to boot. Chris the owner bartender is just great with his Chicago like attitude, scruffy mustache and classic artist black glasses. A way cool guy who knows his wines. He of course tastes and buys them. Get a cheese plate while you taste some great European whites. "Hey Chris, order more German Rieslings - its the best white wine grape don't chu know!" - David H.

Perfect first date spot
By erin, 9/15/05
This bar is tiny, but absolutely adorable. Good lighting, relaxed but hip atmosphere. Wine selection is wonderful and the "mini-menu" of cheeses with your choice of fruit and olives is a great combination to make a cool place to meet for that first date.

Great Wine and Cheese
By Mark, 9/1/05
Without pretention the Hotel Biron delivers up some great, and often unique, glasses of wine. And if you have a little bit of an appetite their cheese is usually exceptional. It's sometimes tough to find a place to sit in this intimate setting but usually it's not too bad.

Nice One
By Ericson, 8/11/05
Never too crowded unless there is an art event going on. This small little spark of goodness at an alley off of Market Street is great for late weekday evenings. Have sushi at the Sushi Zone or dinner at Zuni then walk over to Hotel Biron for some great wine.

Excellent secret place in SF
By Nissa, 7/6/05
I'm sure it's not entirely a secret, but I had not been there until a few friends took me for a celbratory birthday bottle of wine. Lovely little enclave on the same alley as Zuni - you can miss it if you blink. Really enjoyed the wine selection and the cheeses, but it's very low key and mellow, not like other pretentiuos wine bars. Affordable and enjoyable.

Cool and mellow
By Ethan, 3/29/05
This tiny wine bar is only steps away from Zuni and offers a perfect locale for a mellow evening with a date or a few friends. The wine list is small but respectable. They also offer a limited selection of snacks to go with your wine.
