Pakwan had very ordinary fare. Decent kababs, chewy bhuna gosht, thick onion slices for condiments. I would recommend other places in the same genre that give you more bang for the buck.

Dreaming of the Tikka Masala

This is the best Indian/Pakistani in the Mission. It's crowded, loud, cheap, and delicious.

Hands down best in town. Would b my last meal.

Pakwan's food would be the meal I requested if I was going to ever see the death chamber!!! Pakwan's food and service lives up to the style of the new generation of Pakistani food that is fast with modified recipes of Pakistani dishes. The time to prepare dishes is quick the food is so so so suculent with rich spices and unique flavors that the tandoor punches out with every skewer that goes in. Everything is served in big portions from the rice, to the Curries, to the Naan. My stomach is grumbling thinking about the Chicken Boti covered in juices and my favorite dipping sauce, rita!!! Yum!! The ambiance could use some work....good music distracts you from the decor which is nothing to brag about. The price...you cant beat it based on the quality of the food you are getting. You can feed two grown people for around $20!!! Amazing, simply amazing. I make an effort to go everytime Im in SF. . All locations serve the same flavors and quality of food. You cant beat it. Thanks Pakwan.

If you don't mind the no-frills, self-service, noisy atmosphere this restaurant has to offer then look no more. Where else in the city can you gorge yourself on tasty Pakistani/Indian food for so cheap - and I mean really cheap. We usually order Chicken Tikka Masala and Lamb Biryiani. Their naan could use a make-over, but again for so cheap one can't complain too much. Oh yes, and if you are looking for a soothing and refreshing libation during dinner this place is BYOB. Why didn't this place exist when I was in college??

Excellent spicy BBQ and curry dishes

Excellent spicy BBQ and Indian/Pakistani curry dishes, tasty selection of vegetarian dishes and excusite breads (Naan). If you can handle the heat, you will love it.

Dive-y,Spicy, Cheap Pakistani and Indian, BYOB

Parking is always an Olympic event in the Mission, but Pakwan is worth it. You can buy beer across the street at the liquor store and bring it in. The restaurant is packed with people at all times. You go in, order at the counter while keeping an eye on tables that are about to open. You have to grab them yourself. I personally like to hover above people who are almost done so that they will leave. :P The place is great for take-out as well. The Roxy is half a block away and I have gone there for a foreign film and have brought Pakwan with me. Eating Chicken Masala, Lamb Biryiani, and Aloo Gobi in the dark while watching the magic of Wong Kar Wat is really a thumbs up in my book. Especially for under $25. Loud, flavorful, colorful, spicy, quick, filling and always a good time.
