Hardy's Bavaria, Sunnyvale

One of my most favorite places to escape to! I love all their appetizers, soups, salads, dinners and deserts! I don't drink beer, except for the Weltenburger served here. The ladies who work/run the establishment are wonderful to speak with. They are very nice, open and friendly. The service is excellent, and is only slow when the place is crowded..on those occasions, expect 2 to 3+ hours for the evening. And of course, I love the German music they play in the background! Love it love it love it!

I've grown up eating homecooked German food, and even make my own Saeurbraten and sauerkraut. This place is NOT authentic German food, it's like saying Taco Bell is authentic Mexican food. In eight years their food has not changed....it's greasy and fatty, has no flavor, the bread is stale, and is a thoroughly disappointing experience. I won't be bothering to go back here again. You'll have a much better experience at Dittmer's Deli in Los Altos/Mountain View, buying a sandwich there. They have imported German foodstuffs as well.

We enjoyed every dinner at Hardy's Bavaria thus far. The food is authentic Bavarian/German, 100% home-made, and delicious. The service is not as fast as we are accustomed to at many American restaurants. However, we do not rush our weekend dinners, so that has not affected our good time there.

I really used to love going to Hardy's Bavaria. The food is great and the service used to be excellent. Unfortunately, after Hardy sold the restaurant a few years ago the service has gone to hell. I have waited for more than 35 minutes for someone just to take my order and the entire dinner took over 90 minutes before I received the bill. And this was when the place was barely occupied. Obviously, after reading the other reviews, I'm not the only person with this complaint. What once was a thriving, vibrant, successful restaurant has now lost it's loyal customers due to lousy service. It probably won't be long before there is another ownership change. I can't wait! I would like to return. It is unfortunate that there are so few good German restaurants in the Sunnyvale, Mountain View area. Anybody out there know of any others?

Good German food but service is slow. Knowledge of german dishes will help. Friendliness of wait staff is average.

We've been to Hardy's 2-3 times, but this last time, we had to actually go get the main lady and bring her to our table multiple times in the evening, and this was after being extremely patient. The food is quite good, but I'm not sure we'll go again for this reason.

I've always found the service and food excellent at Hardy's. Though it has been some time since I visited (live in ireland now) it was alway a popular place after work on a Friday/Saturday evenigs.The staff were very friendly and good fun, and so were their customers. People traveled from 20 miles away, including myselft, to sample some great food and real German beer!! I must say, I'm dissappointed to read the earlier reviewers comments, maybe it was an off night or were short on staff, who knows, it can't be perfect all of the time. I would say give it another chance. It maybe a good idea to call a head to check for seating and what ever else you maybe looking for. Enjoy - TonyC

I have been to Hardy's maybe 5 times with my German friends who have recommended it. It is not at all that friendly and the food is somewhat average this past year. I would rather eat at a different German restaurant. My experience at Hardy's on my last visit was not as pleasant as in the past. I think they should be more friendly and caring to customers. Happy customers spread the good word around. Food-wise it is O.K. But I am not happy with the Service lately and I am NOT GOING BACK. It's sad that a once fun place has changed.
