Sushi Zone is a hip-and-happening place for yuppies, students, Bohemian-types and wannabes to hang out and have great sushi at low prices. It is usually crowded, but the high-energy atmosphere makes time fly by. The food is a treat. All the classics are here - Maki, Nigiri, Hand Rolls and the like, made with lightening speed from quality ingredients by the ebullient sushi chefs. The service from the wait staff is also fast, with a plate of great food or a glass of excellent Japanese beer at your elbow no sooner than you order it. Call for details.
i love this place my cousin introduced me to sushi zone and every other sushi restaurant that i have been to doesn't compare to this restaurant. please don't tell too many people because we want to keep it as private as possible.so ssshhhhhh.
The food is ok, nothing special. You can certainly find a better sushi place than this. The food took forever to arrive!!! (as they have one chef). The place is noisy and too small if you would like to have a comfortable place to enjoy your sushi. Price seems reasonable at first (not until you receive your meal, then you will notice the portion is quite small). Please don't go there especially for those who normally spent their time wisely. (I waited for more than 1 hour after being seated.....such a disappointment!)
We were waiting for it to open and managed to be the first one to get a table. Waited another 15 minutes before the server took our order, and our food arrived after at least 1 hour. That is ridiculous! The spider roll was the worst sushi I ever had, burned with bitter taste of course. I tried the spicy mango and also Hawaiian 1 but nothing special about those(was recommended by the server)-too much avocado and small portion.
Honestly, Nara Sushi at Polk Street is better! I will certainly not go to Sushi Zone again. Waste of my time, and very NOISY!
This tiny place on Market Street at Pearl offers a delicious roll I've never had anywhere else: unagi with sliced papaya. Mm-mm! The wait is unbelievably long but the staff will charm you. Be sure to arrive before the dinner crowds--it's best to get there at 5pm.
I've been religiously going to the Sushi Zone for 5 years, and I'm always disappointed now when I try other sushi places. I've tried my best to not tell anyone about this spot cause I've been having to wait longer and longer for a table. Now I'm telling you because I may as well since the wait has been terrible lately. But it is worth it. This place is small, which makes the already big sushi portions seem even bigger. The space is cozy enough to where it becomes very easy to meet everyone, and buy each other sake.
