Punjab Kabab House, San Francisco

I am an Indian from the UK and visit San Francisco about once a month on business.. I had never before eaten indian food whilst here because I thought it would inevitably be disappointing. However, one evening, the craving for curry overtook me. I had often seen the Punjab, and being Punjabi, I thought I'd pay it a visit. I was very pleasantly surprised. Being well-travelled in India, I would have been very pleased to have been served the meal I had in any Indian city. I now consider it a must to have a meal in when in the city. An outstanding place, and very cheap. I just hope they can maintain the standard.

THE BEST bhindi masala (okra) in SF! I pretty much like everything I've had at Punjab and its resonably priced! The ingredients are fresh and the naan is awesome! $10 will get you a good veg dish and some great naan!

The best thing i liked about the place was the way the food was cooked and given to all of us..u know like good indian masala dosa and stuff like that..u know i always go and always going ..gone to the place..me english dont know u know..sorry..papppaji..

Excellent food, service and prices. We will definitely be stopping here every time we're in the city. The only drawback to this place is the location and the front row view of the activities outside the windows.

Great food, great prices. We go with our kids and the whole family enjoys the food because the spices are neither too less not too much.

Our office staff across the street eat here every week and love it, Americans, Indians and others alike.

The tenderloin area of downtown SF has become quite a mecca for curry lovers in the city. there must be at least a dozen places now opersating in hte streets around o'farrel, jones and eddy. Shalimar is still tops in my book, but Punjab is really starting to give them a run for their money. truth be told, i think they might actually be better in the nan-department and there are a few curries which are completely wicked. add to it the fact that the place is never packed (yet) and has self-serve beer in the fridge, and you have a winning combination. i think i might just swing by tonight for dinner. yum.

This is by far my favorite of the kabob houses in the Tenderloin. The food is as exceptional as it is inexpensive. And everything is done with care. The chicken tika masala is amazing and the dahl is transcendent. Service is quick and friendly.
