Pho Queen Noodle House, Sunnyvale

Update: 2012 We still eat here regularly. It is still packed and popular for lunch. The only change I would give to my review is that this is now our favorite Pho restaurant. The one we liked close to our home changed chefs and started using MSG. We've come here enough by now that the staff is all smiles and remembers our standard order. The grandpa at the cash register exchanges friendly banter and shakes my hand. Upping to 5 stars. Original review follows: My wife and I eat here all the time: weekday quick lunch, family meal on weekends. This is maybe not my favorite Pho place, but it is tasty, inexpensive, quick and consistent. We feed our youngest from our bowl, never any hassle from the staff, always provide a (free) bowl to put the kid's noodles/broth into. Some of the negative comments below might be due to cultural aspects: this is a Viet restaurant. They don't bring you a bill--YOU have to walk up to the cashier to pay. Also, during workday lunch the place is packed by 11:45 with a line out the door. Hey, they are not going to give you a table to lounge around waiting for the rest of your group to arrive when they have people ready to order. The staff tends toward brutal efficiency during lunch. They ARE trying to get yr order fast, get you your food FAST, get your table cleaned fast when you are done so they can serve more of the herd waiting at the door. That's the way it is... If you want a leisurely lunch, go elsewhere. Weekends are less frantic.

My friend and I had a similar experience, in that once we were seated, the young skinny waiter came up to us and stood there with his pen and pad looking in the opposite direction. My friend wanted to order a coffee drink so he pointed at the menu, did not say a word. He walked away with our order and when we were ready to order a coffee drink, we tried to get his attention and he stood at the front of the restaurant and lifted his head as if to say what do you want. I yelled a #3 coffee drink. When he brought the drink he slid it across the table and left. When I went to pay the bill, he was standing there watching me and I held his tip up in the air and put it in the jar. It was 6 cents. I will not go back. I don't need to pay to be treated like scum.

The worst ever place to eat. Staff are arrogant and they get angry at you when you share your food within your family. Its crazy it really is. I dont recommend this place to anyone.

This is the worst restaurant I've been to in terms of service. Basically if you have one guest on his/her way, this restaurant won't let you sit down and order. You will have to step aside and wait for all parties to arrive before you can go to a table and sit. This is the first time of my life to encounter something like that. Bottom line: extremely cheap place run by extremely cheap people.

It's a pretty filthy place. The skinny waiter is very rude. Used to dine there every so often, enough to be his regular customers. But he still treated us like strangers. We try to order and he's looking elsewhere like he doesn't want to take our order. Food is overrated. Found a fly in my soup and had to use my spoon to scoop it out. So I asked the waiter for another bowl of soup to replace and he wanted to charge me for another. No concept of customer service they have there.

My experience At Pho Queen was not too good. There were flies buzzing around everywhere and they kept landing on my plate. When I made the waiter aware of this he just walked away as if not to care. The last straw for me was when a fish eye floated to the top of my soup. It looked like it was staring right at me. Of course I notified the waiter. He then asked me where was the other fish eyes claiming they came in pairs of two. He then just stuck his fingers into my soup and pulled it out. I could not believe it. His hands were filthy. Looked as if he was working on his car Oil soaked fingernails with dirt and grime all over his hands.There was no way I was going to eat my soup after that. I will not be going back there again. EVER.

I found a fly in my soup. When I complained to the waiter he told me there would be an extra charge for the fly and added 10% more to my bill. Also when i went to use the mens bathroom i caught one of the employee's wanking in the sink.......really sick Finally when I went to leave I noticed in the kitchen one of the employees was using the soup as mouthwash and spitting it back into the soup pot.

Bunch of Grumpy Old Cunts Skinny young guy needs a beating. Poor atitudes and lack of english makes for a bad experiance

it's the closest restaurant/to-go place to my company. the food is nice & quick. but avoid peak lunch hours.

Great wet noodles - for a quick lunch.
