Sam's Grill & Seafood Rstrnt
This is old San Francisco with its polished brass, dark wood and seafood specialties served by waiters in tuxedos. The roots of this establishment go back more than 100 years. Sauteed Crabs Legs are supple, Sand Dabs are luscious and sweet. The wine list is all local with California selections from top to bottom. Throughout your meal, the bread basket is kept filled with soft, hot sourdough; which is city's another tradition kept alive at Sam's Grill.
I have never visited this restaurant and only knew about it from one of my novels by John Lecroart, which intrigued me enough to see if it really is there. After reading a few of the reviews, I doubt that I would ever try this place. Since my cousin lives in SF, when I visit I ll ask for his advice.
EVERYTHING is good at Sam's. Just blindly point your finger at any place on the menu and you'll pick a winner. The old wood panel decor and private booths remind the patrons of the old-style San Francisco restaurants that are all too rare now. The waiters are very friendly (especially Stefano) and helpful and will provide the best service possible. Be sure to have a plate of the calamari -- the best your will ever have!
Great seafood restaurant. Also Steak and Chops are available. Type of place my Father used to love to go to. The food is wonderful and the waiters are all professionals. The best sourdough bread available in San Francisco. Try the sand dabs. They are out of this world. For dessert try the crepe' with the annisette topping.
