Sam's Grill & Seafood Rstrnt
This is old San Francisco with its polished brass, dark wood and seafood specialties served by waiters in tuxedos. The roots of this establishment go back more than 100 years. Sauteed Crabs Legs are supple, Sand Dabs are luscious and sweet. The wine list is all local with California selections from top to bottom. Throughout your meal, the bread basket is kept filled with soft, hot sourdough; which is city's another tradition kept alive at Sam's Grill.
I have never visited this restaurant and only knew about it from one of my novels by John Lecroart, which intrigued me enough to see if it really is there. After reading a few of the reviews, I doubt that I would ever try this place. Since my cousin lives in SF, when I visit I ll ask for his advice.
We like everything about this place, except that fact that it's not open weekends. We've never had a bad meal, and no other place in San Francisco prepares fish as well as Sam's. The side dishes are great, too. There's absolutely nothing trendy here, just the feeling of an authentic old-time fish joint. The waiters are attentive and responsive to special requests. We've taken many people there, and everyone wants to go back.
