Went there last night with my bf. we loved it!! from beginning to end! their bread is so good with olive oil and herb dip. the calamari was good i ordered the spinach gnocchi , he had the veal marsala. omg i was a bit jealous of his food but i didnt tell him that! still my dish was great. then we ended the night with the helen of troy. not the best dessert ever but how can any dessert be bad? definitely worth the trip from the east bay
have been a big fan of this restaurant for years. great food and service. i've tried their:
Bocconcini Di Mozeralla Lombardy
Penne Con Salsiccia
Gnocchi Di Spinaci Al Gorgonzola
really delicious food and look forward to go there again soon.
solid italian food, most of the entrees are pretty good. the service can be a bit slow sometimes but it's a nice place overall. it's usually not hard getting a table without reservations, which is nice.
This is one of the few restaurants in the area that I regularly frequent. I'm not going to say this is the best Italian Food ever because that would be untrue but none of the dishes ever fail and there are a few that truly sing. I usually order the seafood risotto when it appears on the specials menu (you can ask them to only include the seafood you prefer and leave out the sundried tomatoes if that is the version they are offering...because truthfully I'm burned out on sundried tomatoes after the 90's) and my boyfirend loves the steak that comes with simply divine mashed potatoes.
I have been disappointed with some of the deserts however the gelato is excellent.
For the price, atmosphere and wonderfully friendly staff this place will most likely make you a regular as well.
Without a doubt the worst Italian food I have ever had. Starting with the bread, it would be a stretch to say it was even average. We ordered carpaccio and calamari for appetizers. The calamari was extremely rubbery and tasteless. The carpaccio was served with what was claimed to be Dijon, but was French's yellow mustard! For dinner we ordered the seafood risotto and the gnocchi with gorgonzola. The risotto was tasteless, bland with the same chewy calamari included. The gnocchi was flavorless; the gorgonzola was undetectable.
This restaurant was a complete disappointment and we will never return again.
Nice experience: I went to Vaso Azzurro with 5 other colleagues from work to celebrate an event. The waiters were very nice and the atmosphere is just perfect. It took them, however, 40 minutes to bring us the dishes and mine was a little cold for pasta. At the time, the restaurant was very busy so I am not sure if this was due to lack of staff. I would go there again and give it another try because a colleague told me that he and his family had dinner after our lunch and he enjoyed it very much.
I had gone out with a friend intending to hit up some restaurant called Pasta Q, but that sadly turned out to just be Pasta?, and we quickly settled on our second option, Vaso Azzurro. Best second choice I've ever made! The service was excellent, with a very attentive waiter who made great dish suggestions; I never would have tried the eggplant appetizer on my own, and it turned out to be delicious. Similarly, the entrees were very, very good---my veal literally fell off the bone (so tender!) and my date was quite satisfied with her seafood dish. The atmosphere was very cozy, aside from the music selection (pop hits reimagined in flute, I think). Altogether, a fantastic evening at a fantastic restaurant.
