I just moved to San Carlos almost a year ago and I have slowly been trying out the local eateries. This place was a pleasant find - the food is good and inexpensive AND you get a lot of food. My wife and I shared the chicken kabob, chicken salad and combo plate. The chicken was especially good with a right amount of flavor and a light grilled texture. All in all a great experience, although, as someone else pointed out the falafels are good but not as great as the Falafel Drive-In. But that's a minor nit - I can't wait to try more things from the menu.
The worst service I have ever experienced. The lady server (boss) was rude and practically kicked us out before we were done with our food. I know the place is small and seating is a problem but to push customers out before they are done with their lunch just to make room for the next $ is not appropriate. I will never go back to this place.
The food is pretty good here. Alot better than the 2 places in San Mateo (Sinbad and Alhana). The portion size is just right I think. Not too big and not too small. There isn't too much seating so if you are going with a large group it might not be too easy to get seating.
I would definitely come back. I've been twice in about a month.
Since the change in ownership they have done a couple of good things but a few bad things have come to surface. The hot sauce changed from freshly made to a chinese premade sauce, the Tahini sauce is a little more watery than before and they have added a new green sauce which is pretty good and a nice addition. The service has changed a little, they are better at busing the tables but the friendly mom and pop feel is gone. They used to be very open with substitutions but now they say absolutely not, even if it is an easy change like tabouli for a side greek salad. The food has stayed the same which is the only reason why we keep going back. They have also expanded the sitting area which is great and the additional tables outside are also a good choice if you want a little sun.
A little mom-and-pop restaurant. The owners are very nice -- they always recognize me when I come in! The food is not gourmet, but it is reasonably good and it's quick. Prices are pretty reasonable too. Great lunch location.
