Hello from Japan! Was just in the Palo Alto area and enjoyed lunch at Cook's with friends. Lest we forget, they also have good sandwiches. I had a tuna sandwich on some kind of healthy bread with a side dish of cole slaw.. Both very tasty. Both for around 900 yen total. The atmosphere is very casual with lots of chatting going on at every table. The decor is non-existent. But the food is good and worth the price.
I do not live in the Bay area. However, I go there at least once a year. Everytime I am anywhere close, I eat at Cooks. They have absolutely the best Fish & Chips I've ever eaten. Prices are higher than they use to be, but worth it. And don't even dream of ordering anything EXCEPT the Alaskan Halibut.
I have been going there every year since 1991, at least one time.
Great casual environment to hang out with friends and family to enjoy some great fried finger seafood. There's always fresh seafood on sale as well and a little market attached to the restaurant. Overall, a great little place with great prices!
