I and my girlfriend went to take in some dining and listen to the band and possibly do some dancing which we love to do. We had never been there before. We found what was offered a little pricey but tolerable to some extent if you're in the mood to splurge a little. However, I wasn't feeling very well and so we decided to order one meal and share it between both of us. It was brought to us on two plates which we thought was very thoughtful but later found found that we were charged for splitting it. We ended up with a dining bill that would have payed for two fairly good meals at another restaurant. Then we found out that refills on coke (I and my girlfriend do not drink) were not free. We've been to other restaurant/lounges where refills on cokes were not charged. We shrugged it off as a bad experience and continuted to enjoy what turned out to be a very good band and we stayed till closing time. We would go again for the music but think twice on dining there although the food was very good. The salad was a trifle too oily.

My fiance and I were treated extremely disrespectfully at this restaurant. The manager was VERY rude and the bar tender stared at us, making us feel very uncomfortable, because we ordered water (we were saying hello to friends and only staying for 10 minutes). The week before, however, we had dinner and drinks that we paid over $300 for and left the waitress a very good tip. The manager needs to realize that he must treat people with respect regardless of what they are ordering. If people are patronizing the restaurant they should be thankful for this and treat them with decorum rather than second class citizens because they aren't spending allot of money that particular night. They certainly will not get repeat business and attract new customers the way they are treating their existing ones. We, for sure, will not be going back there!!!

The Iron Gate is pricey - but great if you're in the mood for a little drama with your dining. The flaming Steak Diane is the best entree and also enjoyed having the flaming desserts prepared at the table! On the weekend, the lounge area has nice live music and a dance floor but am always surprised there are not more people taking advantage of this area.

Went here for Thanksgiving dinner and was terribly disappointed with the meal; the turkey was no better than standard cafeteria fare, the vegetables were cold, and the stuffing was so unappetizing it could have been used for attic insulation once it hardened. Service was adequate but terribly rushed. I had heard that the Iron Gate had a reputation for fine dining, but this was truly an eye-opening and sad experience for an establishment which once had a very good reputation. One would have been better served at Mimi's Cafe in Foster City with their $15 Thanksgiving dinner than the $42 I paid per person at the Iron Gate. Then again, even Denny's would have been an improvement over this muck.

this is the real old school! throwback to the elders in the 60's getting dressed up for dinner. waiters in tuxes, white tablecloths, very good steak and a great chocolate mousse cake dessert. a salad we had was a bit disappointing. take your parents!

I can't wait to go back.

I had been hearing of the Iron Gate for three years from my boyfriend but he'd never make plans, so I decided the only way I'm going to get there is if I make reservations. I surprised him and took him there for his birthday. We walked in and the first thing I get is a wonderful compliment from the nice hostess on how nice I looked that made my night. We were sat down immediately and had a bottle of wine waiting at the table that are friend ordered as a gift for his birhday. We started with the spinach salad wich was perfectly wilted and the warm bacon dressing was fabulous. I had the Steak Diane it was soft like butter I could've used my fork to cut it and it was perfectly pink in the middle. My boyfriend had Venison it was a special of the evening there was a congac dijon peper corn sauce it was smooth and devine. To finish the evening we had chocolate soufle it was so decidant and sinfull.
