I don't get it. People rave about this place for breakfast. The foot is usually burnt. The pancakes have a very strange taste. They are in way too of a hurry to cook any type of decent eggs. It's seems to be all about table turns. I think they are living off past reputation because recent food quality is grim and Ann's Coffee Shop is a much better breakfast with much rush to it. The locals all go to Ann'e. Stack's is not living up to it's past reputation and the food quality has gone way down.
FABULOUS!! First timer and loved it! Best breakfast house around. Had the hot link scramble breakfast and it was the best I have ever had. Owner came up to ask how we were doing which was a very nice touch. Waitress was attentive and nice. Coffee and water at our fingertips - just great. Would recommend to anyone. Also, protions are large and filling! Worth the wait, will do it again very soon. A must go and taste...
there's usually a 15-20 minute wait at the stacks in menlo park, but they have free coffee outside and it goes by quickly. the food is basic but really nice and fresh. i like that you can get stuff that's a little different from the standard omelettes (they do crepes or egg white omelettes here). there's a really extensive breakfast menu and everything comes out quite quickly considering how busy they are.
Enjoyed the banana (bran?) pancakes although it's probably better to get a small stack to share on top of the other normal breakfast offerings they have. I don't remember being particulary impressed by the value of it but I think it's reasonable given those yummy pancakes and a nice area right in downtown Menlo Park.
I did a family outing on a Sunday morning. The wait was about 40 minutes, exactly as predicted when I gave my name. Once we sat down, everything went smoothly. The service was prompt, the food was good, and the menu had plenty of options to make everyone happy. The kid's menu won't break your wallet.
The food isn't breath-taking, but everything was good. They have their act together.
