Crown & Anchor
This authentic British pub serves dinner until midnight and the heated outdoor patio is legendary. You will think that you are in London, as the decor is truly British in all respects. The grub is typical pub fare: fish and chips, meat pies, sandwiches and the like, most of which tips the scales under USD10. Twenty beers are on tap and there is an extensive selection of single-malt scotches. It is never hard to stir up conversation. The bartenders are great, and the place attracts all walks of life, from business professionals to college students. See website for menu, bar info, and more.
I was searching for beautiful Pacific Grove on the ocean, between Pebble Beach and Monterey. Unfortunatley, Yahoo has now lumped seven cities into one travel search? In Pacific Grove I suggest these favorites: Joe Rombi's la Mia Cucina-Italian & Seafood, Peppers Mexicali Grill, or Holly's for breakfast. Ask a local.
Tha patio of the crown is hands down the best place to drink and grab a late night snack anywhere in Monterey the Patio staff of Art and Scot keep the beers comin and the atmosphere pleasant with thier friendly service. The Duck is dirty, Doc's is trashy, Octane is too Salinas the Brit is drunken kareoke, and lalla's is too quite and polite.
This place reminds me of the galley of a pirate ship; and what's not to like about that? A few steps off of popular Alvarado St. in Monterey it caters mostly to local folks looking to booze it up in a cool, relaxed setting. The antiques and art work are perfect for a place like Monterey (a place with a grand maritime tradition). The bar maids are capable and the bartenders serve up drinks that are well worth your dollar. If you want to escape the infestation of tourists at Fisherman's Wharf, come here and have a rum and coke.
This pub is conveniently located across the street from the Marriott right in the center of Monterey. It has the same feel as a typical pub in England or Ireland - not many bars in California do this well. They have an amazing selection of beers from all over Europe, including Boddingtons on tap! There's also a full restaurant with pretty decent food, including British favorites like Cottage Pie. There's a small patio with heaters which were definitely required in November.
Long popular with locals and tourists alike, this restaurant has several special features each with its own appeal: its oak
bar is nearly 200 years old, while the Cannery Row room has a pirate like atmosphere; the conservatory is ...
