Don't expect a lot. I was living here in Monterey in 2002 and the Chart House was one of my favorites, both food and drinks. I returned there with my new wife after 8 years away expecting to show her something a little special in Monterey and in a really great dining experience. SOURLY disappointed !! First the waitress, though friendly, was more interested in trying to sell appetizers and deserts than providing good service. After we declined on the overpriced desert that supposedly was going to take 1/2 hour to prepare AND decided on an alternate appetizer suggested by the waitress we hardly saw her again. The chocolate martini that I had talked about for a day before we got there was some kind of a joke. It was made with cream and did not have the rim dipped in the great white chocolate of the past. When my wife's baked potato and fillet arrived the potato was covered with bacon bits (that she specifically ordered without) and the fillet was cold like it had been sitting in the window until the waitress decided it was her time to bring it to our table. We sent it all back and the manager brought out the same steak now cooked more so it was barely medium rare although now warm. The waitress returned to the table just in time for my wife to order a glass of wind that did not get there until 10 minutes after we started the meal. The check came for two entrees, one martini and one glass of wine for $98. Totally overpriced, poor service plus the food was absolutely nothing special and really lacked any flavor. This is the first review I have ever written but it is truly deserved buy the once great restaurant that has totally fallen by the wayside.
