PLEASE DO CONSIDER THIS BAKERY FOR A WEDDING CAKE!
Four weeks before our elopement, I chickened out and convinced my fiance to have a backyard wedding for about 50-60 people on Sept 5. Well the hardest thing was finding a bakery for our wedding cake w/ such little time to spare. The top 3 Wedding cake bakeries were booked, so I tried Paris Bakery. They had a space for me and got me a consultation right away. They have free tasting. I tried 5 different cakes, 2 there in the bakery and they let me take 3 home (generous portions), to share w/ family. The cakes are delicious, and not your typical cakes. They are French recipes(obviously). After tasting i decided to mix/match flavors i wanted, you dont have to go w/the cakes they have listed. I mixed a white sponge cake(3 layers) w/ 1 filling of fresh raspberies and 1 filling of chocalate ganache(SCRUMPTIOUS) for the top tier and the Opera Cake for the bottom tier-Chocolate sponge cake w/ Mocha almond buttercream filling (INDESCRIBABLY DELICIOUS). I also had a picture of the cake i wanted and I also wanted fondant. The day before the wedding i brought my fresh flowers (these were not dropped) and left the ribbon i wanted for my cake. The morning of my wedding i received a call from the decorating chef saying that i hadnt specified what color of fondant i wanted (white or cream), because the picture i left was a little dark and hard to tell. I appreciated this so much, because it was crucial that the fondant be white, as my colors were white/black and hot pink.
My cake was the most beautiful, modern, cake and EXACTLY how i wanted it. The fondant was perfect and seamless! The flowers were arranged perfectly. The taste was to die for! Even my brother who hates cake, ate his and wanted another piece! There was plenty of cake, i bought a cake for 50 people and it served 60!
I love this bakery and the people working there, they are friendly and attentive and i would highly recomend this bakery. It is infortunate what happend to Dee, but please dont let one bad incident persuade you. Here is one happy, blessed incident to let you decide if you would like to give Paris Bakery an opportunity to make you as happy on your wedding day as i was. I have pictures of my wedding cake, but those can never compare to what it really looked like and all the comments from the guests on how beautiful it looked and delicious it was! I am still dreaming of that cake!
Paris Bakery is FANTASTIC! I go there every chance I get. The gorgeous display in the big case is a thrill just to look at - the beautiful tarts, cakes, pastries, tortes, all colors and sizes with berries and fruits, chocolate, coconut, almond, whip cream, pastry cream, custard, ganache. I always allow myself a few extra minutes just to appreciate looking in the display case. This is one place I know I can get a satisfying espresso outside of Europe. Their breads are all fresh and very reasonably priced. Everyday they have fresh salads and sandwiches, again very reasonable ($3 - $6). This is the perfect place for lunch, a snack, a coffee and pastry. I tell everyone this is a MUST STOP in Monterey. I can't say enough good things about it - I've been going to Paris bakery for 11 years, and I am still impressed every time.
This place was great! We visited there yesterday for lunch after checking out My Museum across the street. The food was a pleasant surprise and very well priced. Everything is baked fresh daily and the staff are very friendly. We accidentally left our diaper bag there and they called to let us know we had left it! The next time we are in Monterey we will definately go there!
We tried this bakery lately and loved it. The cookies, cakes, breads and napoleon's were all fantastic. I'm regreting going on a low carb diet this week - this is the only thing that is really tempting me!
I absolutely love this place.. it is excellent!! The service is good the pastries.. are fantastic. . the quiche's are great!!! The breads they have are fresh. Its like being in france great atmoshpere. Go here!!!
I love this place! There's nothing like sitting there in the morning and having a cup of freshly brewed coffee and a ham and cheese croissant or something light and sweet like a fruit tart. It also has a lovely atmosphere. I highly recommend it to anyone who is tired of heavy greasy American food.
