This is the best Greek food that my husband, kids and I have eaten in California, starting from delicious Appetizers to Entrees. Great service, very friendly hospitable owner who even gave our 5 year old twin boys loaves of bread to feed the Canadian Geese at the park. We will definetely go back when we are in the Monterey area again!

The reviews left for this restaurant are surprising!! I have eaten Greek food at restaurants around the world including Paris and Corfu and must say it is the worst Greek food i have ever had!! The Greek salad consisted of alot of soggy lettuce, feta cheese, and a few cucumber slices. It had little flavor and no dressing. The pasticio (GREEK LASAGNA) had very little meat ,cheese and spices. The pasta was also overcooked! They also served a sticky rice with raisins in it. This was new to me and not what i consider to be Greek. My husband said his kabob was ok but nothing special! The only good food was the TATZSIKI! However, this was also a joke as my husband and i received 6 tiny pieces of pita cut into triangles. This was not enough for the sauce! The waitress was insulted when we told her the food was average. We did not meet the owner. The waitress obviously told him we did not like the food.He avoided us and spoke to select tables around us.He was loud, pompous and errogant! The food is also overpriced. Our 2 meals. 1 appetizer and 2 soft drinks came to nearly $54.00. I was annoyed that i wasted such a sum of money when we could have had steak and seafood at a good restaurant for the same money AVOID THIS PLACE!!!

This is not your everyday Greek restaurant. The owner is of Greek descent, but was born in Turkey. Sure you can find Greek favorites on the menu, but you will also find less common dishes like Tashkebab, a wonderful pork and tomato dish I enjoyed. Even the standards are a bit different with a more tart/less eggy version of Avgolemono, the classic chicken and egg soup. The wine is abbreviated, but well-chosen featuring Monterey County wines. It is also downright cheap. The most expensive bottle is $39. There were some minor service issues, but nothing that wouldn't be expected on a busy Valentine's Day. The place is imbued with Petros' (the owner) personality, and that smoothes over a lot of problems. But I will take you up on that free Saganaki on my next visit!

Oh my, I've died and gone to Athens. I had the lamb kabob, which was lean, tasty, and done just right. There was so much lamb on the skewer they had to put the grilled veggies on the side. My wife had the musaka, which was dripping in cheese and filled with favored meat. Her plate was clean when we left. We skipped desert because the both of us were topped to the brim. Both meals were served with a small Greek salad. Unfortunately the salad did not live up to the main courses. It was a bit wilty and a bit over powering with vinagre. And the tomatoes were a bit sparse. In all the salad was only fair. Service was excellent, amiable, and responsive without being intrusive. The atmosphere is a bit Spartan, but then it is Greek. The only really negative factor is the lack of parking. We dropped by the day before, but were unable to find parking on the Monterey streets nearby. Which is why we went the next night...I found a parking place. The wine list is limited, which is a surprise knowing how much wine is enjoyed by the locals (of which I am one). We paid a bit over $50 for the two meals; well worth it. I highly recommend Epsilon if you like Greek cuisine.

I have been here a few times, most recently today. The food is always great. I love the salads--the bean salad especially. Mousakka, Spanakopita, Gyro, it's all good so pace yourself. I once had a salmon Mousakka here (it was the special--you won't see it everyday) that was so good! On one visit the owner himself came out to talk to me about a special request I had. He made me a great meal. Make sure to let your dinner settle and then finish it all off with a coffee and baklava. Wonderful!

Amazing Gyros
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/2/07
The restaurant is small and the hostess was an airhead. The wait was a bit long and it appeared there was noone running the restaurant. I was irritated at first and decided that the food better be amazing. It was. I will deal with the airhead and the long wait to enjoy their wonderful food again and again.
