Kula Ranch Island Steakhouse, Marina

I love this place! It has a great vib, food it good, staff is friendly and it's very convient if you are staying at the resort.

We had a coupon for a free appetizer from the Best Western across the street. What a deal, we had drinks and dinner. The dinning experience was very pleasent, the staff professional, drinks and dinner were excelent and the atmosphere was upbeat. We are planning to have our wedding reception there this June!!

Let me give the bottom line first: “Denny’s food for Chart house price”. Sorry let me correct myself, Denny’s is even better. The horrendous experience started when we arrived at the restaurant, I was there at 6:30 p.m. requested to make a reservation for, or put my name on the list for 7:30 p.m. the two hostesses were 2 inexperienced teenagers (fit as I said for Denny’s not for a place trying to sell itself as an upper class dining experience the average steak price is $30.00, but will come to that later), they both said at the same time they can’t do it before 8:00 p.m. I asked can’t do what, can’t take reservations until 8:00, or there’s nothing available until 8:00, or they don’t take reservation at all. They both replied at the same time yes. I asked again yes, which one of those? They just blew me off. I went out got online, went to the restaurant website, in couple of seconds I made a reservation for 7:30 p.m. Went back inside, there was only one of them, I asked her: you told that there’s no reservation until 8:00, right? She replied: yes that’s correct? So I said, while showing her my phone: Well, I just made a reservation online for 7:30. She went to her computer to check, and then she said we’ll see at 7:30 then. My wife and I went back for at 7:23, they told us it will be few minutes Few minutes later another hostess comes to take us to our table, she takes us to a table where there where a huge group occupying most of this section of the dining hall and they had all of their peruses and presents on the table we were suppose to get. She turned around half way to the table, and said follow me, where she took us to a table next to the kitchen, in the middle of a heavily trafficked area by the servers bringing the food out from the kitchen. I told her we requested a window table, she replied we don’t have one, then I asked her what’s wrong with the one you were taking us to? She replied they have their stuff on it. I said can you please ask them to remove their stuff? All what she replied with was: wait. So we stepped aside a bit out of the way, and waited. Few seconds later she came back and in a kind of yelling tone she said: “I said wait outside”. So we went back by the front door and waited, for about five minutes and led us to what looked like a makeshift tiny table that was cramped in between two tables. All of that in front of who looked like a manger who did nothing excepting hovering around this large group and sitting with them on the table chitchatting. Now comes to the food, and mind you my wife and I are serious dinners, and especially when comes to steak we know our steaks very well, that day we decided pass on going to the chart house which is 5 minutes walking from my house, and I’m one of their MVP’s, just because we keep seeing the big banner on the red double dicker of the highway. 1- Beverage: If you don’t alcohol you’re SOL, the only thing they offer is FOUNTAIN drinks, and regular ice tea, well restaurant owner if you wanna slide as an upper crusty restaurant, here’s what upper crusty restaurants do, they offer something to everybody, some bubbly water, some flavored fancy ice tea, some freshly squeezed lemonade 2- Soup: only one to choose from, Crap bisque, which tasted like butter squash soup…hum. 3- Main dish: I ordered a medium well New York Strip which is suppose to come with garlic packed potatoes, and seasoned vegetables, as for my wife she ordered the Filet mignon medium well which comes with garlic risotto and seasoned vegetables. i. My steak was a rubbery tough piece of meat bland flavorless, undercooked (I had better stake in first awakening for $10:00) ii. My wife steak wasn’t a Filet mignon (if you want to know what a filet mignon is google it and look at the pictures), and also rubbery tough piece of meat bland flavorless, undercooked.

Uggghhh…Elementary Cafeteria Food! This was convenient being that we were staying at the Sanctuary Beach resort but very disappointing! The complimentary bread was soaked in butter and olive oil then sprinkled with a garlic salt/powder and some rosemary twigs. I guess this was supposed to be served cold being that when I asked for a fresh warm basket it came out the same temp. I ordered a Wedge salad that came with a Ginger –Blue Cheese dressing it was watered down and there was not even a hit of Ginger in the dressing. My husband ordered the pulled pork. It looked like our dogs kibble saturated in b-b-q sauce. The flavor was not appealing at all. We left disappointed and hungry. Needless to say we will not be back there to dine!

Whenever you go please order the ribs, they are the best! They are just as delicious as Volcano Grill in CV.

AJ Spurs is now Kahlua's steakhouse (Hawaiian). I would not recommend nor would I ever return. Menu had no variety. Your better off going to Hulas in Monterey, CA. I ordered a burger with Fries. My husband saw nothing interesting either.

AJ Spurs has been sold to Kaluas Restaurant. We brought 5 people last night for dinner $370 with drinks. Food was cold, meat was tough, silver ware was dirty, table was dirty, service personal were great. Overall rateing I would give it a 2 out of 5. Will I go back, NO.

I've gone here twice. Very pricey, but the food is great. If you're a pasta lover like myself, try their seafood alfredo! It has enourmous scallops, shrimp.. you really get your moneys worth here. Very busy place though, so call in advance to make reservations or you'll be sitting there waiting for a while especially on weekends.
