Encompassing nearly 5000 square feet, this Tudor-style British pub claims to be the original one in the area. It has a load of beers and ales on tap as well as 60 single-malt scotches available. You can relax in the heated garden patio with its own fireplace, or hang inside, where you can enjoy live entertainment six nights of the week. Food is traditional pub fare: bangers, burgers, and fish and chips. There is no better beer selection in Monterey, and the happy hour is constantly being voted the best in town by locals. It is always fun here. See website for menu, beer list, specialty drinks, photos, and more.
Absolutly HORRIBLE!!!! This place should be shut down with all the fights going on in or outside of this place. The worst club/bar on the Monterey Peninsula as far as I'm concerned. The Bouncers suck just as much as their customer service. I'd reccomend going to Docs instead!
rude people! My friends and family visited in the early evening. We recieved slow service, poor management. The food was just okay...but overpriced for the quality and time it took to be prepared and served to us. Very dissapointing experience and I would not reccomend this place to anyone! Stay away!
I've been in the restaurant business for 10 years so let me start off by saying that the food was good, the service was suffice, especially all the cute little blondes in pigtails... but let me tell you, when you're sitting down with your family (party of 8) and a big fat guy with big black gloves on comes up to your table and starts to I.D. everyone and your grandma, well i could think of nothing else better to ruin my dining experience. My advice, keep your businesses seperate, shut down the kitchen sooner if you want to have your nightclub out back so bad. Also after dinner I went out back to have a smoke and they immediately took my girlfriends chair away from her, in fact, it was the same big fat guy in big black gloves! This was a horrible experience... new management and new ideas could help out there.
I have always liked the Mucky Duck because I was never disappointed by the food. While it is very important for a pub to have good bear selection, which the MD can definitely be pround of, having good food just adds so much to the place if you are not a heavy drinker.
I do have reservation towards its services. You are not going to be pampered, it may even take you some patience. But overall, this is one of my favorite places in town.
This dinner spot is a mistake! A hostess/waitress told us to sit anywhere, when we did choose a table they said we had to move, but there was no where else to sit. After seated and receiving menus it was 5 minutes until the manager showed up to take our drink orders, and another 10 minutes for the drinks. When the waitress finally appeared, we placed our appetizer and dinner orders. When the appetizer appeared, 10 minutes later, a round of drinks were order. Another 10 minutes passed until yet another person showed up to tell us 'the hamburger buns were not fresh, and could we order something else?' I asked if we could 'replace the buns with another bread, say sourdough?' He said 'it would not be a problem.' Another 15 minutes later the dinners arrived...the entire order was incorrect! The waitress returned with another appetizer order, stating the cook had lost the ticket, when he found it he remade the appetizer. We told the waitress the dinner order was incorrect, and we did not want the appetizer, and where is the second round of drinks. Since it had taken what seemed like forever to finally get the food, we keep the hamburgers with the unfresh buns (which seemed fine to me) and overcooked meat (which was rubbery), the meat quesadillas (with no meat). It was not necessary to lie about the buns, telling the truth (having us reorder) is far better then not getting what we paid for. We waited so long for the check, we got up to leave and look for any waitress to pay. The bouncer noticed us and went looking for a waitress. This is an experience which will keep me (and as many people I can warn) far away from the Mucky Duck for the rest of my life.
Honestly one of my favorite places ever. I spent my birthday there and had a blast. The music was great and the food was yummy. It has a very kick back pub feel to it and great service! If you are in Monterey it is a must!
Has the potential to be a cool place, and from what I understand, the ownership reciently changed, and prior to that it was a fun place to be. Poor service, in combination with overly priced food, and overall poor management, leave something to be desired. Pretty wild on the weekend.
