So far the best by far sushi in the area. New owner is Korean and could not be more gracious. The sushi is wonderful as are all their dishes. No disappointments like that Akaoni place which has by far the worst sushi and worst service and attitudes ever !! I highly recommend Hanagasa........You will not go wrong going here !! Ask the owner to create dishes for you and you will surely be amazed at what he does.

My family recently had a birthday party there and they decorated the place and we didnt even ask. We felt very comfortable because the waitress and the chef were nice. It is great for parties but I think you need to make reservations for parties. The new place is run by a couple who puts a lot of effort in to please the customers.

I went there last weekend and the whole place was remodeled. They have the same menu and the owner changed too. The place was very clean and cozy (very different from before) They are very nice and the waitress was extremely amiable. It is one of my favorite restaurants and i will definately go and eat ther again.

The food was amazing, the prices were very reasonable and the service was exceptional! Hanagasa has just become my #1 choice for authentic Japanese food.

I've been there several times in the past year and never had a bad experience. The sushi is top rate especially considering the price. The food and the atmosphere is very authentic Japanese; (i've been to Japan a few times, so i would know). It makes me feel like i am actually in Japan the moment i step into that place. Can't really say that about any other sushi restaurant i've been to in the Carmel/Monterey area.

No greeting at all (They glanced us with unfriendly face)! Since we couldn't expect any service, we left. Around 7 p.m., not too late, I believe.

but the service's below average. japanese waitress not so friendly. but the food makes me keep going back for more. it's hard to find thought. it is a very small restaurant in the corner.
