DON'T GO HERE THEY WILL ADD THEIR OWN TIPS TO YOUR RECEIPT. I have been here 2 times. The first time was ok there was live entertainment but very few costumers and a dull crowd, not really the type of environment I wanted to be in on the 4th of July on one of my few nights out. The second time was awful! It consisted of bad service, overcharges, and fraudulent charges.
For Halloween night, there was very few customers. I was the DD so I was not drinking but my 3 friends were. We stayed there for about an hour, most of the time waiting on the waitress. She stopped by our table once and only after we had called her over and it took her 20 minutes to come back with a drink. My tab consisted of 3 coronas at $5 per and a Draft beer(3 of those drinks were picked up at the bar at the time we arrived). My total was $28. I was ready to leave at about 10 when the service had not picked up any. The waitress took another 20 min to retrieve our tab. Remember, I was not drinking and started to get very annoyed at how long it took her to do anything. I added a $2.00 tip to my tab. A week later I took a look at my bank statement, to my surprise, the wonderful waitress decided to add an extra zero to my tip. Now my $2.00 became a $20.00 tip and my $30.00 bill was a total of $48.00 for 4 beers and no service. I took my bank statement to the pub and have now left 5 messages over the past two weeks for the owner, John, who has not gotten back to me. All in all, if you like your money and you want it to be spent the way you spend it, DONT GO HERE!!!! but if you have no problem with John taking your money this may be the place for you to enjoy yourself. John also owns another restaurant in Monterey, I would stay away from that one too.
The person below me should definitely give it another shot. Everytime I've been to LBP in the past few months, I've had great service and food! I haven't found any fish and chips in Monterey as good as the ones in the UK until I tried them at London Bridge Pub. You get a hefty piece of battered cod, chips, and coleslaw for $11! You can even sit outside next to a fire pit with a group of friends and enjoy the amazing Monterey ocean-side view! Do NOT go to Bulldog pub- worst fish and chips ever. Crown and Anchor has really rude bartenders.
This pub was closed from Dec '07 to July 16th for renovation. The new decor is almost as quaint as the old, but the food seems to be on par with before. The number of TVs has tripled, and the staff seems enthusiatic to please. Worth another visit soon.
I will go back to the London Bridge Pub in Monterey ONLY when Seamus Kennedy performs there again. He makes it worthwhile even though the service is average and the food is below average.
The fries our group had there last night had no flavor and were mostly hard.
The battered fish (we had fish and chips) was greasy due to the poor quality (and/or temperature) of the cooking oil, I suspect.
I've eaten there once before and was not impressed with the food then, either.
Unfortunately, this time, the Pub had not done a good job of advertising that Seamus Kennedy was playing there, and many of the customers were more interested in talking to each other loudly that letting the rest of us enjoy Seamus' outstanding performan.
