Deetjen's Big Sur Inn & Restaurant
This cozy and charming inn dates back to the 1930s. Built by a Norweigan settler and run with his wife, Deetjen's Big Sur Inn & Restaurant is a place for writers, artists, and nature lovers to seclude themselves in the quieting awe of the forest. There is also a restaurant & bar. Breakfast and dinner are served daily and with dinner there is a fine selection of wines. Since this is a historic place, noise easily permeates through the super thin walls and the doors can only be locked from within. Pets are not allowed and families with children under 12 must reserve both rooms of a two-room cottage. There is also an option for shared or private bathrooms if price is a consideration. Guest have privileges at the renown Pebble Beach Golf Links, reservations need to be made well in advance of your stay.
We had breakfast there on a Saturday morning. Since there was a wait, we decided to take some pictures of the beautiful greenery around the restaurant. What I really liked about it was the options you have for the eggs benedict. yeah, they had a choice of bacon but also you could choose from other different things like spinach, tomatoes, smoked salmon, etc. Also, you could get a half an order, which was enough for me. I don't usually like homefries but theirs are great. service does take a while but if you've ever been to Big Sur, its just the way things are there.
Set in a 40 acre redwood grove, this campground is renowned for its 80 private campsites, each with picnic tables
and adjustable fire rings. Three bath houses with hot showers are also on the property.
